As a single father to a high school aged kid, I regret being a parent. Really do love my son and everything but having to constantly monitor his social media usage is exhausting.
Real
In my opinion no kid should have access towards any form of social media until the age of 16-18.
It’s literally cooking their brains, you have kids of age 4 being handed iPads and getting addicted to coco melon.
You have internet creeps /weirdos stalking little girls on SM and grooming them. they groom to on Roblox
You have boys having their minds brainwash/ influenced by all this bullshit they see, no doubt they are being introduced to all the depravity that happens on ig reels , twitter/ Facebook/tiktok.
We have to understand that at a young age, our brains are really malleable, all this influencer s*** with idiotic , ignorant perspectives on life will lead these kids towards their downfall.
This s*** really needs to be taking seriously, or there will be great repercussions down the line with the next generation of children in the age of modern age of the internet.
everyone needs to be banned from social media have it go back to the old days just take away the internet too lol
tiktok is brain rot and influential at the same time
Tik tok fyp is truly a reflection of yourself
S*** I was around when it came up and we built it lol let the kids live
Difference between using facebook in usually limited computer time to message your friends in a pretty small echo chamber then,
and now having a cellphone with 24/7 access from age 7 being molded from the jump by distractions of endless Tiktoks, suggestions that you’re the opposite gender if you dont fit in, feeling inadequate even beyond the school doors from the now more prominent social numbers game and comparison, underage on Tinder to meet older guys, current X algorithm by default showing you propaganda you can’t discern, Onlyfans and IG constantly showing you you can live off your body instead of going to college, and more

Yeah I feel like a hypocrite for the same reason but at the same time..
I wouldn't want these next generations to experience/see/do s*** I did when I didn't know any better
Tik tok fyp is truly a reflection of yourself
Not really
It be mad random sometimes
sometimes I get a goat fyp pull and I’m like yea zaddy that’s what I like

How do you even monitor it?
It's too engrained into society now tbh. You'd just be making your kid feel isolated and left out cause all their friends are online. Plus there's the possibility that when they finally do get access they'll get too lost in it like when kids of overly strict parents go to college and finally get to let loose
Exposing them to it in moderation and monitoring activities will always be the answer
When i have kids, they're not getting on social media until 18. Being 27 now and looking back on my teenage years, it just isn't useful for children to be on these apps so young
