Aight I’m gonna try to speed run some of the Marty essentials I’m missing before this drops.
Here’s what I’ve seen:
Taxi Driver
Raging Bull
King of Comedy
The Departed
Shutter Island
Hugo
The Wolf Of Wall Street
And then I’ve got Goodfellas and Silence already noted that obv I gotta watch.
Anything else yall consider top tier Scorsese?
Edit: wait I thought this dropped way sooner than it does lmao. No speed run necessary but what else should I add to the list?
After Hours and The Last Temptation of Christ
follow me on letterboxd I follow back

Have you seen Casino? It’s one of my favorites
why tf isn't this out till October if its already getting reviewed
you'd think if you were 80 years old you would just say "fucking release it" instead of waiting half a year

After Hours is one of his most underrated. All-timer for me. Definitely watch that
Check out the awkwardness lmao
What is wrong with this cameraman
Idk how you can call SI incredible and BotD just solid
Shutter Island is literally one of Scorseses most famous movies with plenty of iconic scenes. Nobody even talks about BotD. At best it’s considered underrated but I feel it’s a very minor film from his filmography
Lol after hours and a lot of the earlier films are way better than Shutter island bro
I’d take Goodfellas, King of Comedy, Aviator, Last Temptation and Casino over Shutter Island
I prefer SI to the rest
several minute standing ovations still crack me up to this day. I would love to be in one some day. that's bucket list s***. just clapping until your hands are sore and checking your watch being like "this movie was 8 minute-long ovation good. just 7 more minutes of clapping." maybe take a break at the 3 minute point to regain your stamina then boom right back to clapping.
If you gave this movie a 5 minute standing ovation you might as well have spit in Scorsese’s face
Check out the awkwardness lmao
This is like a fever dream
just realized this yr has some heavy hitters dropping
this
oppenheimer
the killer
dune 2
"film Bro" wet dream..just missing QT
Next year is even heavier

Mann dropping Ferrari also
2010s is his best decade ever
Shutter Island, WOWS, Silence, Irishman
All 4 of em in my top 10 Scorsese and I’d say 3 of em are in my top 5
real as f*** for the silence and irishman love
insanely good movies
and this one seem to be one of them ones as well

Old people have unlimited patience unless it pertains to grocery stores
The actual lore is wildly inconsistent to the point where it probably doesn’t even exist. Only a handful of films have ever gotten above a 12 minute ovation and some of the films on that list are baffling (Elvis got 12, The Neon Demon got 16!!!!!!!!)
But it’s sorta been a general rule that an ovation that’s like 4-7 minutes is like a courtesy ovation.
But as Misfit said, the most acclaimed film of the festival so far only got 6 minutes.
9 minutes really isn’t bad.
Out of their damn minds lol

Neon Demon got 17 I feel in part because a lot of people walked out so the people who stayed probably felt a type of way about that lol
