I don't understand, he declared lower interest rates though?

I cant tell if that was sarcastic LOl but if not: Trump doesnt control rates
Its the federal reserve, which operates independently
If the federal reserve doesnt cut it wont be cut

Per the fed reserve meeting motes for jan:

“Participants generally pointed to upside risks to the inflation outlook,” the notes added. “A couple of participants remarked that, in the period ahead, it might be especially difficult to distinguish between relatively persistent changes in inflation and more temporary changes that might be associated with the introduction of new government policies.”

    That doesn't make sense.

    "FEDERAL" reserve

    That's trump, federal

That's just the name, it's not under the purview of govt.

    But I understand the misconception.

    "FEDERAL" reserve

    That's trump, federal

    Its slightly under his purview

He nominated its current head actually
He can also try to get the current one fired but hed have to go through courts and congress to do it, hasnt really been done before.

It seems much harder to do than to fire a bunch of parks workers (whixh is also an apolitical agency) but isnt backed by as many legal protections

The federal reserve act legally prevents the fed head to willynilly be fired, mainly to prevent exactlt this type of thing. The agency isnt meant to answer to anyone. The federal reserve is supposed to be entirely data and macroeconomics based, not on personal sentiment, desire, or politics. Changing interest rate while inflation is rising or highly volatile cld have consequences for the us economy as a whole, so it has to be really carefully weighed even if one really wants interest to go one way or anotjer. A bad choice could lead to another global financial crisis. Like the uber low interest rates leading up to the 2008 financial crisis helped spark it (that and lack of govt oversight and regulation, highly risky behaviora by banks, etc). But the fed absolutely played a negative role, so u really want those ppl to really be thinking things through uninfluenxed by one unqualified mans desires

Its also not been done before afaik bc willynilly firing ppl at the fed j to get ur way w interest rates and whatnot would actually freak out the stock market and potentially freak out investors (whixh hes been trying to court, mainly the saudis)

The current federal reserve head and trump seem to be lowkey beefing though. Hes publicallt stated he will nor be forced to resign and will not have his decisions swayed at all by outside forces… though his term ends in 2026 so trump can replace him then w someone way more willing to bend to him

I thought they would prop Vance as the next puppet but at this point I assume he's tied up in some basement

Nah i think Vance is being used pretty effectively honestly. Its just weird cus he hasn't been the focal point in DC (which might be a good thing amidst the Elon stuff and agency reforms).

In one week he represented U.S at the AI Summit, Munich Security Council and delivered monumental speeches at both (for better or worse). On top of that, he conducted meetings with Zelenskyy, Modi, Macron, etc.. in the way a President would with foreign policy team at his side. He's already trusted with far more than any of the last couple

Ultimately, Vance is well liked by Trump sons and the investment of guys like Thiel so i think some major faction will end up relying on him in 2028. He's only 40 and could realistically extend MAGA era until 2037 (where he'd be done at 52..)

Came across an article propping him up just now too. Republicans like him: nytimes.com/2025/02/21/us/politics/trump-successor-jd-vance-republicans.html

I definitely see them trying to use him to prop up the MAGA movement but I just don’t see it actualizing because he’s a wet blanket

I feel like they have know the maga movement dies the second trump does

But then they would pushing Vance way harder

I think the billionaires know this and are trying to milk the US before Trump dies which is why we see the speed of these EOs

    Not really though.

They all depend on the USPS as well.

They fold or even severely cripple the USPS and the consequences would be felt almost instantaneously.

More and more people in Trump’s cabinet are telling their employees to ignore Musk’s email s***.

Wondering if a riff is already forming because of Elon’s inability to work behind the scenes and the already numerous instances of DOGE unintentionally firing the wrong people.

Let's hope so, I think the best thing we can hope for out of this administration is they start infighting and we get 4 years of nothing happening

Since HHS websites share thousands of .PDFs, the source said, “very expensive” engineers spent multiple days scanning the files for the list of terms instead of doing their regular tasks.

If I gotta spend even 10 mins writing this dumbass email to Elon tomorrow, multiply that by every other fed worker wasting 10 mins writing it, and think how many millions of dollars is wasted writing that lol
