lol, honestly i was on board with PP for a while, but after Trump came into office PP just showed he doesnt really care to stick up for Canadians much and spent his entire campaign telling us how we suck, it worked because we believed it at the time but Trump honestly united us.

Funny because Trump made it clear he wanted PP and I think if anything Trump will be the reason we dont get PP.

We were having the same issue you guys were having with the "left" party. They seemingly weren't making a positive impact on regular lives, and they had a lot of left leaning policies that were hurting Canadians (specifically immigration).

Even PP at the end of the day is still pretty central if not "left" compared to what the Republican party is in the US, but he put a lot of focus on putting Canada first, tightening up immigration, fixing economy etc etc, but a lot of his campaign was basically "government has f***ed canada forever and now canada is a s***ty country, let me save it", but that doesnt work so well when you have your biggest ally in history starting a trade war and s***ting on your country.

Carney has done a good job of leveraging that and saying "alright, America is doing their thing, heres how we are going to focus on Canada then" vs PP still going off about "left woke" and "canada bad".

Carney either is or is likely to be the new interim PM until the election in which I think it'll be a close run between Carney and PP.

I trust Carney with "fixing economy" and subsequently building jobs considering his work in the 08 recession. Pierre doesn't have that track record.

And obviously even under Trudeau lately, immigration has been tightening up. Going fiscally conservative will pretty much only benefit those who want less taxes and regulations in a higher class. Everything else is collateral. The problem with Pierre is that I'm not viewing it from a "left" of what Trump's admin is atm, his other policies like "ending woke policies" is what I'm afraid of, whether that's OAS, general welfare, employment insurance, cutting benefits--perhaps even our revered global healthcare, which is crucial. We do not need private insurances to be #1 in this country. Carney promised to axe the carbon tax and PP said he's "copying" him, no joke

Only thing I want the next government to keep in mind is we really are not as good as we say we are at the moment. Our healthcare systems are a mess, intraprovincial trade needs readjustment, immigration, housing costs, crime etc etc. We have our own mess to clean up and I'll be voting for whoever prioritizes that.

I don't wanna hear f*** all about woke or axe the tax or any of that s***. Tell me how you're going to make it more affordable, safe and healthy to be a Canadian.

Definitely, we should sweep these claims and go at the crux of them. I just don't trust any leader that says vague stuff like "woke policies" and banning p*** are the issues. You can tackle crime, help housing costs recalibrate without doing all of that nonsense. Interprovincial trade is a good point as well, hardly mentioned at the forefront

Yeah ngl. As an average american hispanic male. I'm not feeling anything by Trump at all. All this s*** going up in flames is touching bases that I have no connection to. It's been two months, and I'm seeing the same repeat behavior from 2016 with the Trump news cycle.
