the average user on r/conservative doesn't really participate in the top trending news posts. the top posts are typically heavily moderated and have low comments, and as you said, it'll be "left wingers brigading the sub."

also, r/conservative tends to post stuff that supports their narrative and not breaking news/alarming stuff the layperson cares about. they consider that stuff sensationalism, fluff or "art of the deal." although, you'll genuinely see stuff like "why do liberals think we regret our vote?" "I'll vote for him a fourth time" or "something something...liberal tears"

please don't fall for the trick that people who voted for trump for a THIRD time will have a sense of clarity

perhaps, but isolationism is a trait of conservativism as evidenced by the history of the US and it's what many registered republicans voted for (as well as the culture war and anti-dei policies). there's just a lot of cognitive dissonance among them

yeah I know its a pretty tough (maybe pointless) way to glean any insight but I dont have tv or social media or any other way to find out what right wing Americans are thinking
