Welcome, KTT2! I base my favorite albums of any given year based on how much i listen to them, enjoy them, and how well they stand as its own body of work. I am Kodak Spice and this is your list.

    10. Tinashe - BB/ANG3L

Very short, and very sweet. Tinashe continues her consistent run of dope music, and this is a perfect short, sweet listen. Cloudy R&B pretty vibes good for most moods.

    9. Ice Spice - Like..? (Deluxe)

What was Kodak Spice really listening to? Yup. Acting a Smoochie, In Ha Mood, Deli, Munch, Bikini Bottom, Princess Diana RMX all stayed in rotation. Honorable mention to Barbie World as well.

This was Ice Spice's true breakout year, even having a collab with h-tler swift. She is an A-lister and had a plethora of hits.

What Ice Spice does for me is give me that confidence to feel like the bad b**** I truly am. Her sassy delivery and tone fits the mixing of drill and jersey club within her music. Riot is killing it! She is the female reincarnation of pop smoke, "bitch ima thot, get me lit" She a baddie with her baddie friend like...🙄 word to @cutiepiehole

    8. Kali Uchis - Red Moon In Venus

Kali just dropped her new album as I'm writing this. Red Moon In Venus is an album I was deeply in love with at the beginning of 2023. The album is so lovey dovey tho, i found it hard to listen to deep in my breakup era. It still makes this list tho cuz that s*** was on ROTATION!

    7. Lil Uzi Vert - Pink Tape

Uzi peaked many years ago. However, that won't stop Pink Tape from making this list. Uzi takes a lot of sonic risks on this album, and not all of them pan out. But when they do, you get insanely unique banger like Fire Alarm. Just Wanna Rock rebirthed an entire trend. Uzi stays in his bag, though it is overall a disappointment. EA Deluxe is far superior. LIR2 is my fav.

    6. Pinkpantheress - heaven knows

Nice to Meet You is so amazing. Boys a liar pt 2 is SOTY! Pinkp has always been a hit or miss artist for me. But this album is all hits! Tons of replay value and sounds so fresh in this era! Excellent album.

    5. Kim Petras - Feed The Beast

Kim Petras finally scored a true smash hit with the Sam Smith collab UNHOLY soaring to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. To follow this up, she has an album filled with all the A-list pop producers and writers. However, it did flop. The song with Nicki did ok I guess.

But that doesn't matter. What matters is this is an excellent dancepop album and Kim does not miss once again. Bop after bop to get stuck in your head for weeks! A fun easy listen for those who love bad electropop dancepop girlie vibes!

    4. Travis Scott - UTOPIA

Five years after Astro. In retrospect, I would rank UTOPIA ahead of DBR and OP, but its not better than rodeo, birds, or astro tbh...

Excellent tunes. Fe!n was my second most played song of 2023. Overall a very pleasing listen, very expensive sounding production, and excellent features. It's another travis album, he did a great job as always! make it dark.

    3. Slayyyter - STARFUCKER (Deluxe)

Slayyyter goes so hard. If S*** POP by Kim Petras was a w****'s diary, STARFUCKER is a LA coke w**** partygirl's diary. This is an Adventure! Right from the beginning with intro I Love Hollywood you know exactly what you're in for. Every hard album has a hard intro, and STARFUCKER is no exception!

This is that baddie turn up confidence music. Not to mention, exciting electropop production that is post-hyperpop in a sense! She has never missed yet, and keeps evolving and getting better.

    2. Doja Cat - SCARLET

Two years after my 2021 AOTY, Planet Her, Doja Cat has returned, pissing off her entire fanbase and s***ting on her previous albums as "cash grabs", with the new more rap-focused SCARLET.

SCARLET is a magnificent listen. She keeps me engaged with her delivery, bars, the quirkiness we have come to love Doja for. Fun playful production with lots of fun lines to go around, there is a plethora of catchiness to be had despite the lack of any features whatsoever.

Doja continues to prove herself as the queen of pop, rap & r&b. People that were sleeping say I rap now!

    1. Ava Max - Diamonds & Dancefloors

I love it when an artist locks in with one producer to create a cohesive sonic atmosphere for an album. From Thriller to Die Lit, we have many classics that were born from this formula of loyalty and dedication from all parties involved. Wow, oh wow. Ava Max did it again.

While Ava Max is not a recognizable name in the pop world to most normies, she outstreams all of your favs and you surely have heard her music in a mall at some point! Her album from 2023, Diamonds & Dancefloors had a god awful rollout with delays and months ahead of time leaks with a penultimate flop with no charting songs.

Despite all this baggage, Diamonds & Dancefloors exits 2023 being the best album of the entire year! For reference, her debut album Heaven & Hell lost to Future Nostalgia in my rankings in 2020. The amazing hooks, melodies, production, songwriting, cohesive sonic atmosphere paints a glorious dancepop picture where Ava bounces around many subgenres of dance and pop! Insane replay value, super catchy, the definition of pop perfection. I wish people didn't sleep on Ava so much!
