my main problem is I easily get caught up in ideas and forget about s***

yeah the one thing i really want to work on in chess is my thought process / decision making i think i used to try to plan out crazy attacks / exploit weak king position too much and now i look at the board as a whole a lot more and just always try to make the right positional move and only go for a checkmating attack when the opportunity presents itself tbh

the best opening to learn when you're a beginner is the scandi IMO, super straight forward
