2019 being a not so great year for music killed this site honestly. Ktt1 was falling apart at the seams and then ktt2 was made and people just immediately started talking about how bad music was now and it never stopped. It’s boring

i think it's mostly the aging userbase and the new users this site does get are of a specific ilk (there's no shortage of twitter zoomer leftists on here). those two things lead to a pretty safe and sanitized forum experience. not that that's necessarily bad, this forum is definitely more mature than KTT1, but it's just not as wild and freewheeling which makes it less fun.
