Unshackling myself from the internet grind game of beat slanging was one of the best, most uplifting things ever for me and I recommend it to others if they're feeling frustrated as well
Pop up in your (others) local scenes and link, hit up the people online you have some kind of rapport with, promo yo ish online and let the full randoms come to u, and do more 1 on 1 curator and/or custom stuff irl and online - if possible
It's like a weight off your shoulders and improves so much not only in your music work but also general just living
The Rap producer online grind game is one of the most grueling, oversaturated and cutthroat in all of music with a lot of people that aren't serious that are "trying" to buy a beat or want the "same as everyone else"
i tried doing the type beat s*** n sent stuff out to ppl but never heard a damn thing back. and if i did, i didnt like what they did to my beat
most of my exp is working with my ex for 4 years. and even then, i usually didnt like trying to make something that was super specifically requested. i liked the stuff that was more "me" but she wouldnt like it that much lol
ultimately, i think im very picky w/ which singers/rappers i want on my instrumentals. i know chicago has an underground scene, one of my best friends is part of it. but i dont fw anyone's sound there. there's also a hyperpop scene but again. i dont really like any of them
when i find someone that i genuinely fw and they trust my sound, it's like magic
can start to build and grow together

That's fire and im the same way to a degree
I didn't really mind who rapped on my beats but I would hate it when a fckr would b like "yo this beat sick of yours I like it, do you think YOU CAN MAKE ME A BEAT LIKE SO N SO 🤓", I would hate the social media game and I would also hate how half of the "customers" never end up having the money even after they talked to me over and planned... or want it for free
Now I really only do mixing/mastering for online randoms since it's a lot less competitive and also people pay more for it - but then u also get a similar thing where they want everything blown out loud as s*** or they everything flat and on the "same plane" and sterile - whatever tho I guess
I then do most beats for irl ppl and 1 on 1 curator stuff for online ppl now, then I do a lot of co-production since I can play keys and know music theory n don't use samples/loops, n once in a while I'll sell a lil loop or beat pack of my own play sessions n leftovers n whatnot.
Then of course I finally started doing my own music fully this year with my own project n connected to a lil music group in my scene of Rap, electronic n RnB ppl - n I used to work at a studio for some years pre Covid but had to quit due to Covid since I'm an at risk chronic health issues person.
Overall tho I mostly stepped out of Rap back in 2023 even tho it's my day 1 and first love, just sick of all the bullshit mentioned above, I fell out of love with a lot of the new ish (although there is some I like) and it's also the most hostile and most shady behind the scenes music genre that I also been burned on n just sick of it. I still do it once in a while, but I mostly switched over to electronic and various dance music, n sometimes I'll do stuff regarding RnB.
It's so much better for me, refreshing, and most importantly - FUN!

Thanks man!
Around 2015 I started DJing, kinda didn't have time to produce so much after that. I tried making plug beats and had a couple songs that I produced for people:
After that, around pandemic times I stopped totally. Tried getting into west coast and drill but never had the patience to sit down and pick it back up.
With the return of classic trap beats I just got back on and got Zenology, if I can be bothered to learn the theory side of things I might get back into it properly
