Was Crash Talk successful? If so, I’m afraid he’ll pump out another like it. I don’t think I’ve heard Chopstix once outside of my initial listen.
Nah it did worse then Blank Face LP
Theres some snippets of tracks he played from his next album and its a lot closer to H&C then CrasH Talk.

I remember reading he had another album recorded that was “strange” but he scrapped it. I hope we get to hear it one day. At least fragments of the album that got away. I’ll settle for that over Crash Talk 2 any day. The demise of TDE has me worried for his future music.
It’s funny when that happens. Sometimes it makes the preceding albums harder to get into because it feels like taking a step backwards. Does that make any sense? I experienced that with Setbacks. Q was still figuring himself out
yes it makes sense. i've been trying to get over that with a lot of music because i also would like to revisit that version of myself who knew nothing but those releases of the time.
recently i've been trying to get back into Starboy and After Hours because i completely abandoned them after Dawn FM, and they're still so good.
Reminder and Snowchild are some of my favorite songs of all time and i deliberately ignored them for a completely arbitrary reason

He was gonna drop in 2017 but he scrapped it because when everybody came in to listen to the album during the sequencing stage, Kendrick asked him if he was depressed after hearing the album. They also said it sounded too much like BFLP and one of the things TDE is known for is having a different sound & vibe on each album. So Q went back and struggled to make an album and the album we got was CrasH Talk.

They said no to Blank Face 2 but yes to a Crash Talk? That doesn’t make any sense. They sabotaged Q!
i'm glad y'all feel the way i do about CrasH Talk. i've never struggled to listen to a Q album like i did that one.

I think they just needed an album and that’s what Q had, and really he just wanted to play golf.

Were the great ones from the album. The rest ranged from alright like Water & Floating to f***ing terrible like Lies and Chopstix.
BFLP was an 8.5 so to go from that to a 5 is really bad.

I’ma listen to Crash Talk later today to see if it’s still as bad as I remember. I only listened to it once and I can’t remember if I was in a good or bad headspace. That could’ve negatively affected my album experience.

The problem with the album isn’t the production. The production on the majority of it is fire. DJ Dahi definitely came through.
Q himself just sounded so bored on the majority of the songs. Like he couldn’t be bothered to put in more than the minimum for an album.

Was Q still facing depression during the recording sessions for Crash Talk? Forcing yourself to make “happy” music instead expressing yourself naturally is a terrible idea. TDE should’ve encouraged Q to lay it all out there if he was comfortable enough to go along with it. We could’ve gotten another masterpiece and it might’ve been therapeutic for Quincy.

I don’t know if he was depressed but something was definitely off. I think Mac passing hurt the album too.

Tbf his passion for rap was never as high compared to the rest of BH. He was out dealing and he had to be encouraged to focus his raw talent and natural charisma.
I imagine he got also got cosy after Oxymoron overachieved and Blank Face Tour did well. He made money to afford a mansion and keep his fam good, now he just wanna make fun music

As long as he’s healthy, living comfortably and taking care of his family I’m happy for Q. I’m willing to wait however long it takes for his return. Crash Talk could be a minor setback for a major comeback.

I backed TDE for the longest time as a label when people made fake WWE storylines about bts s***, but after Kendrick leaving, i was expecting them to drop soon after. I guess Soul & SZA are about to drop and tbf the Soul singles are proper good
Hope they can make a comeback, cos they are a talented as f*** label
