music is subjective and not every great song or bad song is gonna do numbers. Just because one did doesn't automatically make it good.

People like to throw that word around but that isn’t true. Everything in life is objective. Just because we have opinions that doesn’t mean things are subjective.
I can make an album of me yodeling and banging on pans in my kitchen. Objectively it would be worse than thriller.
You just need a very trained ear to break down things closer in quality (ie: Thriller vs Purple Rain).
