The "ideal" would be a family where the parents live together and are both around consistently to raise the child and the parents have a loving relationship. When you are a celebrity, the chances you live together and are around consistently are slim to none (especially musicians where touring is a major part of their career). Physical separation from family can lead to tendencies to find that attachment elsewhere (other people) along with the fact that they are internationally known names where both have many people wanting to be with and around them (1000x over a normal person). So you add all these pressures and unique circumstances and it makes it more complicated to be in a committed relationship and be in the picture for your kid constantly. Thats why this s*** aint black and white, the situation is much harder than for Jane and John Doe down the street raising their kid in the suburbs where they both have 9-5s in the area and live in the same house for a long time. Some celebrities' make it work, others dont, didnt seem like either was up to the task of the ideal so I think they found a good middle ground that wasnt splitting up or both being unhappy together exclusively. To flame people who are in a situation that less than 0.1% of the population will ever be thrown in and to judge them by the normal standards and rules seems bizarre.
