What finality? This story was always left open ended. The only real unexplainable aspect of this new film thus far is how exactly Trinity will be involved considering the last we saw her she was clearly and obviously dead

actually have never seen matrix sequels

They are good if you look at it like a manga come to life and the setting is a vast computer system that is failing on the inside with a penchant for over the top action.

Otherwise it's not as enjoyable lol

    That title is so predictable

smith died and it was made so the slaves can free themselves from the matrix whenever they wish. i don’t know how a new antagonist can arise after the machine war ends?

    just taking that in.

  • No colon in the title, for what it's worth - not that it really matters tbh.

Also, looks like James McTeigue (who directed V for Vendetta, Ninja Assassin and episodes of Sense8) may have co-directed this, or was at least very closely invovled.

I don’t recall anyone being given the ability to just freely leave the matrix whenever they wish. It was still very much operational at the end of the third film. The architect promised that those who weren’t out during the reboot would be freed but he never said anything about letting anyone in the future just leave whenever they wanted
