Rewatch to me just confirms no matter how good the concepts, themes, messages, etc. are... they can't overcome a boring ass movie.

Word of mouth gonna kill this s***. The franchise is over.

I think the box office is still interesting, yeah

Throughout the pandemic everyone’s pointed to the pandemic for box office failures (which definitely holds a lot of blame), but then you have a movie like Spider-Man that is putting up some of the highest numbers ever.

Resurrections made less in its first 5 days than the original made in its first 5 days 22 years ago.

The factors you mentioned obviously play a big part in that. The nostalgia bit, not so much. The movie was marketed with nostalgia, even if the movie itself was a critique of it.

Nostalgia is why spider man did well . If matrix 4 was in no way a critique of nostalgia and brought back everyone people wanted was theaters only then you could say box office was the goal . Even with no pandemic this isn’t a movie that cares about box office

Box office isn’t as interesting thing to discuss as you think . Whether avatar , endgame or spider man make the most of all time doesn’t effect the story on screen

Avatar top of all time and you would struggle to find someone rewatching avatar or saying it changed their life

Avatar is basically a 3d Render of Get Out. Ya know, If James Cameron directed Get Out and has his way w the caliguia experiment.

The funny thing about Laurence saying “ you have to ask Lana why I’m not in the movie “ is that if they did the reboot with Michael b Jordan with no lana and he took it . Lana not gonna yell “ traitor” . He eating off John sick which recreates the Morpheus neo nostalgia he not starving yet many are acting like he is . If you think any of the new cast present in this would do a matrix movie without Lana who put them on you lost .

To do a new matrix WB would have to make an entirely new matrix. That’s why she won
