Bad Finger BoogieI didn't love everything in this movie, that's for dang sure, BUT I absolutely love that it exists, I love so much of what it says and what it does.
Kudos to WB for letting this s*** fly, truly.
A big, bold mess, but beautiful at its core - this is the middle finger to generic blockbusters I've been dying for for so long, a breath of fresh air.
This is about us, right here, right now. As incredibly corny as the sentiment is, it's 100% out here saying that love and togetherness are enough, that they can triumph, and that you don't have to settle for less by following the crowd in all walks of life.
That paragraph honestly sells the movie short - there really is so much more going on under the hood, but I'm not going to dissect it all in one bigass nerdy post.
Easily the best film I saw in theatres this year, I can comfortably say that much.

WB should’ve just hired someone else to take over the franchise tbh
With the right people behind it this could and should be a billion dollar franchise
This movie was made s*** on purpose and was intended to take a crap on it's audience according to Wachowski fart sniffers so i believe it bombing at the box office can be considered a sucess

JaeRellRewatch to me just confirms no matter how good the concepts, themes, messages, etc. are... they can't overcome a boring ass movie.
Word of mouth gonna kill this s***. The franchise is over.

Dec 27, 2021·edited·1 replyJust watched. SPOILERS BELOW. S*** ton of things going on. Overall I like the perspective the movie took. I came in expecting a sequel by Lana and I definitely think that is what we got. There was some (arguably, a lot) fluff they could've cut out.
The characters (who I know assume are a parody of modern big budget movie characters?) like the husband, Neo's coworkers, and occasionally the people on Io who keep praising Neo were insufferable. There are ZERO characters like this in the first 3 movies and they were still incredible. So if this is some 4D satire on the movie industry, they nailed it. Also the fact that none of the good guys died during that swarm or surrounded by 100 army men lol
The story was hard to follow, but basically from what I understand Neo & Trinity hold the matrix together? And removing them makes the Matrix fall apart for the rest of the humanity in pods?
Overall very much worth watching if you like the Matrix movies AND you enjoy the concepts they explore. It was a mess though, I can definitely feel the modern movie studio influences in the movie. I did wish we got more of new Morpheus and Smith, the matrix and Io are secondary plots in my opinion.
For people commenting on box office numbers you are literally the person they are making fun of in the movie. A bot.

Not gonna pretend the stakes are crazy high in this but the point of the movie was partially that the despair is always an illusion when you know they are signed to an infinite future to make as many sequels as possible with no end. All stakes in that way are artificial
