Exactly I oddly find myself wishing it was a full 3-4 hours and got to explore more than a greatest hits of previous themes but their love was much better developed . Did characters develop. ? It becomes how can you develop after death more than accepting you are back alive again in some Frankenstein like way

Damn this pretty much sums up everything. There's so much good here but like you said there's potential for a lot more. I do partially wonder if COVID effected filming in any way tbh and if that factored into visual aspects like locations, sets etc.

hey i’m more active in spoiler thread but yeah i feel pretty much the same way the split focus left it’s two halves feeling a little tonally dissonant. if i had my druthers we’d have two shorter movies, one about waking up neo, and one about waking up trinity. i feel like we have so much that we can still learn about her and i think she could’ve carried her own installment. this would also mitigate the expository shortcomings of all of niobe’s and saati’s scenes. i like what we got but there’s def a little too much story for one film

still not convinced about denis doing it tho, i think lana and lilly have a lot more left in the tank

Well yeah there was 6 test screenings was originally like 30 more minutes

Neo is a completed character Trinity however if we had 30 minutes where we see her with family and what she been on in years/ playing the game . The problem I have with the Niobe io parts is not that they don’t have value but that information could be revealed in a better way and faster . They really give io parts nearly too much time to breathe

yeah but i guess i mean more that trinity could be a complicated character, you feel me? idk if i was unclear but i agree about io and niobe i just think that much information would’ve been more compelling sprinkled out a little more carefully. that’s what i met by expository shortcoming cause as it is right now it’s a very mechanical section of the film needed to make the whole thing run

The story revolves around Neo so much that it does feel like it’s unreal or in a game or too good to be true and with an ending like that how would we ever know

that’s real, my point was more that trinity gets elevated in the series to being a “one” so i felt like that would’ve been earned more if we had some fleshed out sections with her. even 30 mins more like you suggested would be nice

All it would take was when he unplugs we change to a day in the life of trinity at the same exact start time as neo then compare. What meta things or flash backs get her there

yeah that would be sick actually. all this talk just makes me wish for a directors cut. tho part of the reason i have so much respect for the wachowski sisters is that they don’t do that

Yeah well we now live in the era where a vocal minority of fans will always demand a directors cut if they don't like the finished product (especially for established franchises) but studios will still only let less than 1% of the filmmakers actually do it I reckon
