If one missed payment is too much for landlord to handle, they should get a higher paying job and stop living beyond their means.

Imagine carrying a child for 9 months, caring for them and raising them until adulthood only for them to become a landlord.

I’d rather give birth to the spawn of Satan. It’d probably do less harm.

My mom's landlord was one of the nicest people

Super fair, gave her a great rate. Was understanding if payments were late

My mom would've had no other options except an expensive apartment if it weren't for her

Decommodify housing and arrest all landlords. Give homeless people homes. It’s literally the only way to end homelessness. All other solutions to homelessness are non-effective and fail to address the most obvious element of the issue. It’s literally in the name “homeless” in fact it’s the only thing. Everything else just distracts from the issue.

Give homeless people homes but landlords don’t set the prices, the cities and states do. If u wanna make the change then become a real estate politician and do that s***.

There are nice police officers too

The issue is that the system in itself is inhumane and unnecessary. Chalking up structural problems to morality solves nothing

All systems are corrupt, tyrannical, and inhuman to a degree. There is no perfect system and there never will be

But I’m guessing you’re saying there is a better system than the one the US currently has? One that is less flawed? What is it? Idk much about housing

Yes. Housing shouldn’t be a commodity. Most things that we need to live like food, water, heat, electricity, etc shouldn’t be treated as assets to trade and speculate on

Agreed. Like Singapore’s system. I wonder if that can scale to a place as big as America. And if so, what would it take to implement it

I was hedging against it since the other guy critiqued the current system as being inhuman

All systems will have an element of inhumanity, so how is that a critique? Better to say we can make it less inhuman. Its a hair worth splitting because there are many people who slip into a black and white worldview where current system = evil and their idealistic naive utopic fantasy system = perfect

All language is inherently symbolic and cannot be used to discern objective metaphysical truths about the world as it is just a tool to communicate ideas not to extract said ideas from any sort of ontological base. You cannot use phenomenological symbols to denote something inherently non-symbolic such as a truth that exists noumenally. You might as well just skip the metaphysicals and talk politics with someone who’s trying to talk politics, not philosophy

this wouldnt be an issue if

    b. we could earn enough to live
