The cult show, which was released as a five-hour movie in some territories, had originally been planned to run for three seasons but never completed due in part to the deaths of key cast members Ernst-Hugo Järegård and Kirsten Rolffes. Producers Zentropa are keeping details under wraps but did say the new edition will be a mix of new and returning characters.
“The gate to the Kingdom has opened, and impatient souls can now have a first look into the supernatural and inexplicable world of The Kingdom, where the final battle between good and evil is about to begin,”
David Dencik (“No Time to Die”) and Alexander Skarsgård (“Big Little Lies”) guest star in the series.
Lars Mikkelsen (“The Witcher”), Mikael Persbrandt (“Sex Education”), Nikolaj Lie Kaas (“Riders of Justice”) and Tuva Novotny (“Blindspot”) round out the cast.
Von Trier has penned the script, again with Niels Vørsel, and will direct all five episodes under the title The Kingdom Exodus
A five- part series, The Kingdom Exodus will launch in Denmark this autumn on Viaplay and will then get a TV broadcast on DR. A major autumn festival launch is also expected.
@beflygelt lets gooooo!
Been saving the original for a rainy day. Already seen the major Trier features. I know The House That Jack Built was supposed to be a show. This kind of feels like capitulation to re-enter the medium, but Trier capitulating isn't likely.
Refn's TV show on Amazon Too Old To Die Young was sensational. Hope this is on par even if the resources won't be.
@Aruji
omfg I'm super hype rn!!!
Won't be the same without Stig Helmer tho
Nice

Yeah there's quite a few things to work around tbh... Wonder if he'll keep the disabled Greek choir too. The whole vibe will be different, but I can see von Trier pulling it off if Lynch was able to too

The House That Jack Built as a show
It's still got the episodic structure. I'm sure they just parred down some of the segments.

Rly fun show with lots of great characters and nice (slightly campy) spooky vibes, and also with that usual Trier twisted-ness.
He was inspired to do TV because of Twin Peaks and you can see that influence with the ensemble writing and even color grading.
Imo one of the best things he's done!
