Harriet is hotter but scrumptious tbh
Jeez this is a long update, but we got quarantine plus the semester nearing its end for me so..
The General 7.5
Incredibly entertaining, but I didn't care for the story and some slapstick aspects like the dumb girlfriend
Sansho the Bailiff 8
Odd title, great film - the last shot was breath taking
Christine 6.5![]()
great standout performance, movie messed up part of my day, maybe don't look up the background details if you plan to watch though
Elephant 8.5
I'm actually very conflicted on this, but give a high score because it made me think a lot. I liked the director's touch, will need to see more by him, probably starting with My Own Private Idaho
The Thin Blue Line 7
Only recommended if you're really interested in documentary form, it's pretty dry
Through the Olive Trees 7.5
Satisfying culmination to the Koker trilogy, even though none of the films individually rise above the power of the experimental relation they achieve together
Tropical Malady 8.5
disorienting, with a second half that feels way too indulgent, but f*** it
A Man Escaped 7
underwhelming, but I'll still check more by Bresson, starting with Country Priest. I like his technique, but the story was uninteresting
The Tenant 8
Creepy as f***, also Polanski is a surprisingly (?) good actor

revisited Man Escaped last night, 7 is about right. Country Priest is a hard 10
so are Sansho and General tbh
Tenant sucked s*** compared to the rest of Polanskis stuff up to then

Tenant is awesome
I've been watching Paul Thomas Anderson's earlier work for the first time.
Boogie Nights, Magnolia and Punch Drunk Love - all get a 7/10.
Gonna watch Phantom Thread next as it's the only one left.

yeah not a huge fan of Liv
it's grosser when you know swedish
she mixes it with norwegian
in later films her accent got way better. don't think it was bad in höstsonaten, cause im fried rn but I think it was the most neutral sounding one
also she not as gorg as the rest of the bergie babes

apparently based on an event from bergman's childhood
