Watched Elle (2016) last night, very interesting and provocative movie. Very weird and grotesque that the story seems to be wholly a male vision, but it seems realistic enough at the end of the day. Not a story many want to hear about, but that makes the film what it is. I’m now interested to see some more provocative cinema in a similar vein maybe
The King
3/5
Battle scene and acting was pretty good. Robert Pattinson
pacing in the first half was alright
Finished Joker a few hours ago and was left shook.
when he shot Murray my jaw dropped, I knew he was planning something but the execution, the delivery and mannerisms were tense as f\*\*\*. Then it got crazier from there. Yeah it's basically Taxi Driver meets King of Comedy with the Joker but I love me some Scorsese films and this was it
10/10
500 Days of Summer | 3.5/5
Fight Club | 4.5/5
Green Room | 4.5/5
Green Room is still so insane to me. Was so different when it came out from what we usually got. So grimacing and disturbing.
Still like Blue Ruin better, wish Hold the Dark wasn't ass. Hopefully his next one is good.

Yeah Hold the Dark didn't really live up to his two previous films, still dosen't make me less hype for whatever else he got coming
Green Room cult classic
4.5/5
I really enjoyed this too, the call backs were dope. & I really enjoyed everyone’s acting minus the main antagonist & the younger girl
Parasite | 8/10
Rating probably could go up as time passes and I think about it more. Really did live up the hype though I was not disappointed

Yeah, Anyon Yelchin and Imogen Poots were so damn good in Green Room.
Movie feels so realistic too compared to others.
Beau Travail — 1999
dir. Claire Denis
Denis is welcome to my home forever no one can capture the essence of the culture and effects of colonialism as well as I've seen from her unless it's a documentary of course.
The landscape shots were so stunning (the three volcanoes setting later in the film 😍) and also the choreography was on point, my god.

Still haven't managed to see that one yet 😩 Gotta get on it soon!
Speaking of landscapes, Kiarostami also got some incredible landscape scenes in his work too, particularly his 90s stuff
Def check more of them out when you get the chance!

OMG! You need to see this one fam it's got different energy to Chocolat and White Material which also explore similar topics/areas. In a good way ofc
Denis Lavant is good as ever in this
Kiarostami yessss I am actually omw to watching his 90s films, so great timing xD. I saw *Where is the Friend's House' like last month or before that idk. He's def up there with Denis when it comes to that theme of landscapes for sure. Loved watching that
Heard great things about Taste of Cherry too
