    Kill Bill: Volume 1

    ★ ★ ★ ★

This is probably the most violent and most cheesy out of every Tarantino movie I watched. I enjoyed the violence and action and the performance of the main leads (Uma Thurman and Lucy Lu) it’s entertaining and fast paced

It’s a fun movie but not Tarantino’s best. It lacks subtlety and purpose. Most of the film’s creativeness is in the fighting scenes and the soundtrack choices (s/o RZA). A lot of iconic moments created on purpose.

Overall a fun, brutal movie, and I’m waiting to see volume 2. We’re doing a drinking game whenever a theme song plays, limbs get cut off or they show feet. Probably gonna pass out lol.

P.S. I forgot to mention I appreciate the extended anime scene. It was phenomenal and I didn’t expect it to be this long or this good.

    Priscilla, Queen of the Desert

    ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Fun road movie about three drag queens who travel across the Australian desert in a tour bus to perform a drag show, and get in adventures along the way.

Unlike my friends I’m not into drag shows and I’m not familiar with this world. However this movie is accessible to everyone (unless you’re homophobic) mostly because of the main characters’ charisma and dynamic. They bicker at each other a lot but ultimately support each other through their struggles.

It balances between being a funny movie and between showing realistic problems LGBTQ people might have especially during a journey like this. It’s rare to see people actually help and support them and not just kick them out or even abuse them. Each character also has their own personality and arc and they develop during the journey.

I enjoyed the cinematography of a lot of the desert scenes, and the costumes are great in any of the drag scenes (won a justified Oscar for it).

Not a perfect movie, but very progressive for its time (1994) and a lighthearted cult film to watch with your friends.

Finally watched Hereditary 8/10. Very patient filmmaking, wow. Much prefer this one to Midsommar, which, now that I have watched Hereditary, I see why I didn't enjoy it. Hope Ari Aster grows as a director because the talent is clearly there.

Peanut Butter Falcon - 7/10. Cute movie.

Watched Malignant (2021) last night and I was shocked how good it was. Saw the trailer in theaters and thought it was boring af. Caught it on HBO Max before it went away.
