Oldboy (2003)
3.5/5
This s*** was twisted lmao. Takes the revenge trope and spins it off its axis. Even though I didn't quite love it, and found it to be confusing at times, the movie oozes with style.
Nice character and emotional moments but it felt like there was 2 separate movies going on. Chastain’s relationship with the guy with dementia and her past trauma affecting her relationship with her family never intertwined. Could’ve removed one of the storylines and it wouldn’t affect the other
It also left a lot of plot lines with no resolution and I’m not sure where all the characters ended up was best for them
The "don't" was pitch perfect

Been watching Hirokazu Kore-eda’s filmography after being amazed by how lovely and beautiful Broker was last week.
Just finished After the Storm, and will probably watch Nobody Knows before the end of the week.
This man is really good at crafting such subtle movies about everyday life, and the intricacies of the concept of family. Love it, and cannot wait to get my eyes on Monster whenever it comes out in Europe!

Starts off slow but the 2nd and 3rd act are a masterclass, overdid it on the s***scenes tho

Was this movie like review bombed by conservatards or something ? why does it have such a low critic score
Watched La Notte last night.
Beautiful cinematography, camerawork, framing, etc. Great jazzy score. Atmosphere unmatched.
It's a movie about apathy and aimlessness that felt really aimless for long stretches, but the last 20 minutes were sublime and really brought it together.
Hard to sell me on movies about bored, burned out rich people these days, living in LA for the better part of a decade drained the fascination I had for that subject clear out of me, but I think if you're going to do a movie like this, this one had enough artistry and pathos to get me into it.
Struggling on a rating. In terms of my enjoyment it was like a 7 leaning towards an 8, but it's a 9+ in terms of achieving its artistic goals.
The epitome of cool. Gotta be the 4th or 5th time I’ve seen it, and it hits harder every single time.
what is this... now

I deducted at least 7 points off my score due to Rob Morgan's hair piece.

Watched this today at the cinema, I loved every second of it
God father 3(coda version was only one available)
First off this movie is way overhated and really the only scene where Coppola daughters acting sucked was "dad" when she died.
It drags a little in the middle but overall is really good with an amazing ending
That ending is ruined in coda tho idk what that old fart Coppola was thinking removing Michael's actual death in favor of a redo of godfather 2 fading away on his face as he just sits there, dunno if be was trying to set up another sequel or something
the original death where it zooms out and shows him keel over all alone with that beautiful music playing as opposed to his father who died playing with family, great stuff
