I didn’t know the Guy Ritchie movie was already out lol
Watch it right now it’s flawless and compulsively watchable
Part of my Criterion Channel series Cinematic Sugar Mommas
I will watch it tonight
Doing a lynch run at the moment, minus dune and fwwm as I’ve seen those recently.
Eraserhead:
A very strong debut, love the ambition and story behind it. I had both been worried and glad I watched hours and hours worth of twin peaks to go into this film, but I found myself in a great spot of still being thrown off by the strangeness but also enthralled by the themes because of my familiarity. Jack Nance gives a great performance as Henry, so much expression and emotion is shown with such minimal dialogue. And that baby.. even after being familiar with it through pop culture, seeing it in the film is so disturbing. Although I very much enjoyed it, I still found it to feel abit unfocused at certain points. Nevertheless, it’s incredibly harrowing and vital and I can’t wait to watch it over and over as the years pass
8/10
The Elephant Man:
Incredibly moving film, almost like an antithesis to Dune in that they were both mainstream studio films, but you can tell with this one he was able to connect deeply with the story of Joseph Merrick. Elements like the black and white and surrealistic opening and ending make it clear it’s a Lynch film but where it shines the most is in its unrelenting display of human emotion. David manages to get great performances from both Hurt and Hopkins, and after Eraserhead it didn’t surprise me at all how good the effects makeup looked in this film.

I'm glad that Eraserhead is B&W. Think I'd pass out at that gory finale if the s\*\*\* was in color Fr lmao

Elephant Man still the best Lynch to me
You see, this is my life & it always will be. There’s nothing else, only us. And the cameras.. and those WONDERFUL people out there in the dark
Yeah this was great and the humor surprisingly holds up

Weird movie. I was not feeling it at all for the first half then in the second half it had some big twists that I admit impressed me and caught me off guard then the end felt a little too contrived.
Might be the scariest movie I’ve ever seen, imagine being kidnapped by synopsis and 8 other ktt politic sxn users. I’d be begging for a bullet the moment these mfers started yapping about bourgeoisie and fascism to me
