What a unique person, actor, career, and filmography. RIP Gene Wilder
(The doc itself mostly just goes through his filmography and marriages)
Aesthetically my favorite James Gray so far, absolutely gorgeous snow covered locations. 8/10
cant believe bro dropped his only movie after however many years in the industry being at the forefront of every classic flick and its this f***ing amazing. you can feel an industry veteran in his 50s made it because its so airtight with its script, so meticulous in its presentation, covers pretty much any question or a way 'out' of the movie the audience might think of, and most of all, plays the entire thing with the straightest of faces
the premise of the movie might appear funny when you realize whats going on (I suggest you dont read the synopsis), but the way it plays out is not fun by any means. the ending is some a24 s*** and I wonder if Villeneuve ever saw it because there are parts of this movie that kinda call back to Arrival
too bad the movie is not more popular because its absolutely amazing. a movie nerd's movie for sure though. didnt know what to expect (and even tried to be critical to make sure im not getting played) but it delivered on all fronts (I guess the music wasnt too memorable). 5/5

really good movie, s*** takes its goofy ass premise extremely seriously and manages to generate a scary ass mood.
also you can see the influence of this on The Thing.
just rewatched get out
good movie, but nope was so much better. get out gets hyped the same way black panther does because white people aren't allowed to call it mid even if they think that's the case because then they look a certain way.

sidenote i would hate being white and unable to call obama a war criminal without being lumped in with #ThemPeople
Imagine 'The Raid' mixed in with 'Romeo and Juliet' and you get one of the best action films from this decade. The hand to hand combat in this is very impressive and it manages to stay tense and claustrophobic for much of its runtime without overstaying its welcome. It's also shocking how brutal and violent this is. This opened wide in theaters this weekend and I wish that this would have gotten the same amount of attention that Monkey Man had received.
probably my favorite first watch of the year so far, can’t believe i’ve put off watching this so long
how is this? made a thread for it while back but still haven’t checked it out yet been sitting on my hd
