CLB timeless classic? No, but surely a decent album

He can“t make an album that incorporates funk, soul, jazz, black culture the way Kendrick does.

Please, tell me Drake can make something like Heart 5

    Basically Kendrick can do Drake

    Drake can’t do Kendrick

He can, it's just that he wants to go a different lane. People always talk about his lack of cohesive projects but why should his albums be judged on whether or not they are cohesive? if he wanted to do that then it would be easy to create a small 10 track album with the same sound. but as he has explained multiple times he wants to please all parts of his fanbase. R&B, pop, rap etc. u name it.

I understand this perspective and that“s what I originally referred too in the beginning - that they are different artists with different goals.

However, it is one thing being able to "do this type of music", i.e. Drake "wanting to make this type of music". But that alone doesn“t make it his true form of music.

Kendrick on the other hand, he comes from this background. He lives what he raps. He carries this culture in a different way.

There are tons of artists trying to do what Kendrick does but they don“t reach that "1%" level.

This album gonna be the soul & rock side of 70s music, whereas TPAB was the jazz and funk side.

Filling albums up with mid to streamwhore is an artistic decision now?

If you tired of hearing and talking about Drake in the Kendrick album thread, like this post so I know who to ignore and who not to ignore from here on out.

It“s amusing honestly, Kendrick drops this song and we still acting like Drake is on the same level. He“s not

I“m even a huge Drake fan

serious question, how is Kendrick’s rapping on here better than Drake’s on Churchill Downs? Like I know it’s two completely different subject matters but I seen people on twitter saying these Kendrick verses alone clear any Drake rap verses dropped in the past 5 years

To me the difference is that Kendrick always tries to go beyond the surface level of his subject matter. I don't think his subject matter is inherently better than Drake's, you can make really interesting music talking about your life, but Drake doesn't delve deep enough into his subjects for it to consistently interest me anymore, even if the rapping is impressive
