It's something only cis people would appreciate and would maybe finally understand more about trans issues.But to us?

Art is not meant to please everyone, if you try to please everyone when you make art the end result is gonna be trash. This song is not targeting anyone, it's not for cis men, it's not for transgender people, it's for Kendrick himself, it's his experience on the subject, his point of view at the time and on his environment. Everyone has different perspectives, he shared his truth from a moment in his life, should he have sugar-coated the whole thing to please everyone? It's like saying a movie about war should not show scenes of violence and hatred because it might trigger trauma in people who have been through it. Art is cathartic. Art can also be about showing what's wrong with how people view things and about understanding how other people may think. If everyone stays in their bubble all their life avoiding discussion then how can issues be fixed ?
