Ay bro, might not be that big of a deal to u, but i wanted to n been meaning to apologize the way i came at your thread about the kanue thread n post about sampling rights/money a week or whatever back.
I was already heated that day, n me being a producer & engineer myself that is also working on my own project amplified that anger when i came across the thread, cuz i go up to bat for producers n engineers a lot due to how the industry f***s us/them around a lot, especially engineers.
I still believe most of what i said, but i didnt mean to come across that hostile nor ignore completely your point/perspective.
N why i just left the thread altogether after i realized/felt i was "doing too much" or getting too personal.
I undestand where u were coming from especially from the perspective as a start up artist, even if i disagree overall.
Wow, is this album causing a sea change where we’re all expressing ourselves in a more honest way? 😂 It’s very unexpected to see you even reflect on that moment. Honestly, I feel embarrassed because I wrote something that I don’t feel like I communicated well. I tried to make a big umbrella statement to get a bar off. But big umbrella statements lack nuance sometimes. I just wanted to express my frustration with the idea of… I sample Etta James… And I flip it into something totally different. Something I love with all my heart. And it doesn’t feel to me like I stole it. It feels like I’m stacking meaning on top of meaning. Like making a collage. And then someone comes and tells me I can’t share this beautiful piece of art with people. That idea makes me sad. So I’m just going to release the sampled songs anyway. If there was a price I’d do everything I could to pay the price. Cause I really just want to put the art first at the end of the day. I’m ignorant in a lot of ways on a lot of things. You’re good, man.
