I hear you, but the fact that Kendrick hasn’t spoke on this until now, shows that he does respect his family member. The misgendering is weird, but I think it shows growth when he genders them correctly. The part in the song where Kendrick sides with family member over his religion was nice.

I don’t recall where on the album after so few listens, but early on Kendrick says these are true stories.
