Bro I lowkey wanna play this album out then come back to it in a couple weeks cuz I know this discourse gonna be tiring man

Ima run it back later when I really get some free time but that first listen stuck with me,that’s a good sign. Idk if reviewers that’s doing scores today already had the album or just listened to it last night, but giving an album like this perfect scores across the board on its release day, doesn’t help it in this day and age.

Let actual people discuss how they feel about this piece of work,I think reviewers should actually join the discussion tbh,and then score it

The way yall feel about this song is how I feel about U. That screaming at the start, "Loving you is CoMpLICateD!" and the drunk rapping towards the end are not enjoyable to listen to

I always thought Damn his weakest (still great tho)

I rank DAMN as his #3 ngl (still with a huge gap between GKMC & that tho)

I’ve listened to this twice fully for today & I’m not that impressed overall yet.

Maybe it’s a grower, but idk

Damn this album really subverted my expectations. I had no idea what to expect - this is easily gonna be his most divisive album. I mess with it overall but it will take a while for me to know where it sits in his discog for me. I'm happy he took a left turn though and didn't just do a part 2 of one of his albums.

this how i feel. Imma need a minute to see how this is to me

    naurrr

It can definitely come off hypocritical because using a slur while saying it was wrong to use it in the first place is just stupid.

Especially when Kendrick is straight, do you not understand how simple it is for it to come across a different way? Lol.

Yeah but it’s in different contexts.

One context is around a relative whose feelings he hurt.

The other context is recounting the story of a relative whose feelings he hurt in a piece of art.

He ends the verse wrestling with the idea that it’s wrong to say no matter the context. His white girl n-word story implies that he learns it’s wrong to say regardless of intention, but his use of the word suggests otherwise. So it’s frankly very confusing. And maybe intentionally so.

This album is weird. it's basically him just voicing out his thoughts. every other album had a concept and a theme and this one he's just basically freestyling.

So weird to voice out your thoughts.

Lmao people really trying to hate this. Enjoy greatness.
