This album is going to dominate the year whether anybody likes it or not. A lot of these songs got that "it" factor. Only questionable parts are the piano ballad/Hamilton-play ass sections, although somehow I enjoyed Crown.

but i'd say there's a difference between him saying "in 2022, i still use he/him pronouns and a deadname for mary-ann" and telling the story of the time period, many years ago, around mary-ann's social transition where he didn't have all of these concepts understood and so used them clumsily

this is different from using the slur where using it in the song (recorded after the conversation where he realizes that it's like him not letting the white girl saying the n word) kind of contradicts the whole ending of the song, because he is "using the slur in 2022," even if just as a quote

yeah i sussed out that's kind of the path he was going for with this story but it just feels weird because, whether intentional or not, a lot of the sentiments in the "childhood mindset" parts (so to speak) are shared with actual sentiments spouted by transphobes and bigots so it just rubbed me the wrong way i guess

    Steady Mobbing

Is Kendrick saying that he doesn't want to be everybodies savior and he has flaws, and he selfish he chose to take care of him self by the end of the album?

He can't be your savior. He can only save himself.
You have to do that to. He is showing you how.

I dont believe half the s*** kendrick says, no way are all these stories in his raps real lmao.

All that s*** in gkmc and all the s*** on this album happened to the same person? No way.

    lol im sorry, you tripping

in over three decades worth of living, you're gonna accumulate a lot of stories

if anything the only time on a kendrick album where i was like "yeah that kind of sounds like BS" was on DAMN. with DUCKWORTH.

niggas let the "ignorant" rappers slide because no one had any expectations from them in the first place. Which in itself is f***ed up on our part. It's the reason why people let Kodak get away with talkin bout dark skin women (ANOTHER thing that the rapper that made "compexion" I'd like to know how he felt bout that) or Lil Wayne get away with saying beat the p**** up like Emmett Till but meanwhile never let Donald Glover or Tyler move on from the dumb s*** they said to decades ago.

Kendrick (and a looooot of conscious rappers) DO spend a lot of time in the past telling us that they do have the answers. He himself said repeatedly "I wanna be like Nelson" like 1,000 times. It's one of the reason Pathetic Pixels (legendary ktt1 user) hated TPAB. The older I get I see why.

Them realizing they don't have the range and saying that doesn't mean they didn't aid in putting themselves on that pedestal they so despised in the first place.

....I honestly don't know when Cole became that "figure." Like, part of me think it's light skin privilege plus the locs that made people go deaf at the fact homie used to be one of the most misogynist rappers on the planet lol. But niggas killed him because of all the things going on in the world, you wanna address a shawty tone? Something that women already gotta go through constantly?

j cole beyond corny for that noname s*** more niggas should have got on his ass about that

    He’s had writer’s block for 2 years

Real question. If this WAS Kendrick’s last album ever, how would y’all feel with it and his career?

legendary artist. one of the best writers, any format, of our generation.

it's alright, after 20 years of life you learn to just let a lot of things go haha

    and thank you!!

unfortunately i haven't legally changed my name yet because it requires so much paperwork in my local court and newspapers, not to mention the $250+ court fee that i definitely do not have the money for LOL

also i'm still very much in the process of transitioning (though i wish i was done with it LOL)! right now i'm taking estrogen and am enveloped in hormone replacement therapy

Gotcha, was thinking it would be a money thing

I hope that you can legally change it one day soon but that before that and after that people respect your wishes entirely

    Salute to your power
