When will we admit the melodic blue the best kendrick album to release in the past year
Tweets like this make me nauseous
https://twitter.com/amaarae/status/1525117372750876672this gotta be some of the most annoying social media reactions I’ve seen an album get from all sides
thought this was gonna be a double LP not a 2 pack of ass
He's being defensive on this record which makes the corniness lame to me instead of the usual flavor of some of his songs. There's definitely spite too, but I wonder why. Feels like a fake shield to avoid dealing with the world and people.
This reply sounds like U was expecting more things u could bop too tho
He an artist, if he depressed do we really want him on stage performing songs like Humble?
I cant listen to we cry together in public tbh

head trapped
the fame/pop culture status he got from damn really took a toll on him
Yes, and also the pedestal people put him on after TPAB saying his was the next Tupac or whatever. He tried to tell people he was just a mortal man and they made him into a messiah. This album was a big old "fuck you" to that idea. He doesnt want the titles.
Run away from the Culture and follow my heart
I choose me I’m sorry
Is Kendrick done
I get what you mean and ofc the idealism is part of the problem in the end
And i don't think there's resentment towards people personally with him (except noname lol), many songs express great emotional maturity in his personal life
But i do sense some resentment towards society at large, not in the sense of righteous indignation like previously, but more like f*** yall you didn't wanna take my message, so ima do me lol
It is a message of individualism at the end of the day like you're saying (I choose myself, nobody is your savior, I'm more kodak than problack, etc) but idk, I feel kinder, more considerate after this album. Society is divisive and he managed to be correct on a lot of issues (systemic ones) while saying that's just humanity, that's something you achieve through experience. It's not that deep basically.
I don't feel preached to which is what I was worried about. I've never identified with Kendrick's music like this before, not really. I can see myself in here. I can see my family in here.

Good take
Capitalist posing as compassionate offending me.. but y’all still begging for them to change their profile picture for the day 🤣
which ones not hitting for you?
A lot of the songs on here are just alright to me especially side a like purpe hearts and n95
This is definitely Kendrick's most introspective and raw album, and I'm sure many people were expecting a super revolutionary and pretentious album, others just wanted a bit more bangers or a return to TPAB production.
But to me it just sounds like he's ranting about a lot of issues that have affected him over the years, it's a personal catharsis, the man literally made a record to heal himself and let those feelings out, it's just kendrick being human and going through his s***. Even the whole rollout felt that way, no commercial gimmicks or big promotions, all very lowkey.
