Kendrick definitely used to be more social and involved in the world/social media. I think a lot of his fame and influence and expectations and growth in life inspired him to take a step back and operate from a distance.

honestly that's the best process, having a life to live outside of the music gives space for the artist to breathe, and truly be inspired. As much as its enjoyable when an artist I love drops music every year, a lot of it is at the expense of being repetitive and not really straying much from a few themes. being a fan of someone like Young Thug while he's also a good artist, you generally know what content he's gonna give you and just accept it. with Kendrick, it makes you curious. "what will it be?" I think that aspect of his music is what makes his cult so strong that he hasn't dropped since 2017/ 2018 and still they're just as excited for him.
