Kendrick taking abt generational trauma very important
I know it may sound like sjw jibberjabber to some
But i can speak on how my own parents went thru horrible govt repression and how it traumatized them, it affected me too
If i raise a family, i now got my own shyt to deal with and might not be a perfect father or husband despite my best efforts, and it could be traced back to that trauma
A lot of jews who went thru the holocaust talk about the same thing, it's a real thing, i wish people took it more seriously
I got some friends saying the album should have ended with Mother I Sober and yeah it's an instant classic but that is a horrible idea. Leave everyone wanting to kill themselves
There really isn't a great closer on here. Mirror isn't ideal and that might be the best one.
Nah Mother I Sober is the FEAR of this album.
its kendrick he could drop the big day and they would give it a 10
Exactly, he could go on cruise control, he’s getting multiple Grammys regardless at this point
First listen was great
I forgot myheadphones to work
So I’m bout to do my full second listen
I’ve replayed a few highlights but I want to settle in before writing my thoughts down
F*** yeah keep me posted plz! Forgetting your headphones is the worst smdh lol
Papa Johns is the king of pizza for delivery chains and this is currently album of the year. As far as pizza goes at least I’d say it’s fitting.
Papa John's top 2 and it's not 2
I think it’s cos it makes you feel so uncomfortable that people would rather laugh at it than engage with it
That makes sense
i think people dislike the album cover more than the actual music itself.
Its a nice cover, better than damn
album cover is great
music is ass
You definitely going 0 for 0 with that take
Lol used to have a phone case with the TPAB cover on it. A white store worker spotted it and we had a convo about the album. Turns out he did his University study on the album.
Let’s not generalise, plenty of white people can get into the album.
I said a lot not all. you're in the minority bud. I'll generalise all I want because I know I'm right for a fact. If there was a poll on when was the last time yall listened to the album guarantee it would be at a minimum year plus. if they were forced to answer truthfully. obviously they won't
whats wrong with the cover ?? pretty dope if we just ignore the dumb and flabbergasting inclusion of a gun
i like it but i was in the thread when it was revealed a lot of people were disappointed
similar to how hated jack harlow’s album cover was
try listening with your ears instead of your ass
nigga listening to this s*** in an erupting volcano lmao
talmbout need to hear it in a different environment
Fax bro
I just ran into a friend who went thru some shyt when she was young
Im like the only one she told me abt that stuff
It's really heartbreaking fr to hear how it affects her up until now as a young adult
Love to her and you fam
it’s a hellish thing to weigh on a person’s shoulders
Yeah but if we talking about albums it’s no question.
Lupe has 2 certified misses with Lasers and Drogas Light
but he also has more albums (and to be fair, lasers and drogas light were completely controlled by a terrible label, while Kendrick had Dr. Dre's support instead).
if you just compare their great albums, it's pretty close
F&L/GKMC, Cool/UU?, T&Y/TPAB, Wave/MM&TBS ...
Ass in question

I got some friends saying the album should have ended with Mother I Sober and yeah it's an instant classic but that is a horrible idea. Leave everyone wanting to kill themselves
There really isn't a great closer on here. Mirror isn't ideal and that might be the best one.
I can kinda see Father Time or Savior working
But Mirror still better than them as a closer
the cool
food and liqour
tetsuo and youth
drogas wave
all 8/10+
I love Lupe, and in the mixtape, f&l, and the cool years I thought he would be going down as the greatest rapper of all time.
Bad label s*** f***ed that up, but Kendrick became what I expected Lupe to be.
