This album is a mental health masterpiece. I finally understand now. I think the Big Stepper part is him finally going to therapy for the first time and going through his toxic ways of thinking. By the Mr Morale portion, the treatment seems to be working a bit more and he reveals where it started and by the end he’s choosing to finally work on himself before being a savior to his community/fans. I think with albums like GKMC and TPAB he dealt with the pain the streets and fame made him go through and then feeling like he had to be the leader of the people while putting himself 2nd to all of this. Kind of using THAT as a coping mechanism

This is how I interpret it tbh

Yeah always realized cause I’m slow sometimes first half are the big steppers , the people that tap dance around issues and the second half is mr. Morale, person who recognizes his flaws and upholds his truth without conforming to society

One of the themes of this album that I love are the acceptance of black people despite their flaws and I think that’s a huge reason he chose Kodak to be the narrator. Like the fact that the impact of generational trauma and institutional racism don’t just go away when a black person does something ā€œcancellableā€. ā€œI like when they pro-black, but I’m more Kodak blackā€

I hate to break it to you but Donda was never ā€œeliteā€ IRL

Only on KTT which is still a Kanye fan forum at the end of the day

I know a lotta people IRL who loved Donda. In fact, two of my closest friends have been teasing me for years because they know I’m a huge Kanye fan and they’re not big fans of him at all, but even they said they loved Donda and it was one of their favorite albums from him in years

Yeah it’s loved by people but of course it’s not gonna be loved by majority of women and of course Drake d***riders.

DJs in NY refuse to play new Kanye as well because of his actions. MAGA Ye + his antics ruined any of his new music being accepted outside tbh

I did get the point. Nowhere did I misunderstand what he’s trying to say. It’s the execution of that idea that was flawed

How did you get the point? Because all you said was that the R Kelly bar is "truly disgusting".. as if Kendrick thinks it wasn't R Kelly's fault which is incorrect

Donda is messy but in a great way. Iā€˜m happy he gave us everything last year. Iā€˜m also pretty sure his next album is going to be more consistent. Hopefully he feels inspired after listening to Kendricks album
