What because of Kim? I get how it reminds people of Kim but yall use words like “definitely” and have nothing to back that up. I can see it if Kendrick got the vocal performance from Kim but wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t because Kendrick has done some really over the top vocal performances before like u to convey an emotion. The song really highlights a lot of toxic relationship argument points in the black community specifically and honestly niggas heard their parents argue like that and sound just like that we didn’t have to get that from Eminem.

Also the songs do 2 completely different things, one is Eminem releasing his anger in a song that he felt towards his wife. Kendrick’s song isn’t from a place of anger but really just showcasing a point of what a toxic relationship can sound like. I’m not saying he couldn’t have looked at Kim for vocal performance inspiration because I definitely see the similarities whether he did or not and it just rubs me the wrong way to write it off as an Eminem type song when Kim and We Cry Together have 2 completely different messages and are rooted in different things, Kim is fantasy while We Cry Together is directly taken from a lot of our realities

The album is great as it is, even though I kinda wish he would've found a way to put "Prayer" on here. That song was excellent.

I don’t think I can agree with that because the second half of DNA is still some of the hardest rapping from Kendrick.

i dont know specific, but the leak specificall from last year all made the album

There is about 6 from that last batch, they either became part of songs or got way more fleshed out

iirc, Fight Song is the only one that got aped almost fully, its We Cry Together but had a diff beat n of course more sloppy mixing/structure it was a meme in kdot sxn for a long time

he had three batch of leaks through the years from bp in 2018 to last year which were the early album leaks

the video helps this as well, the visual of someone whispering to Kendrick in a classic is hilarious and striking

I can understand being disappointed but if that’s not what he wanted to talk about which he specified it isn’t then I’m glad he didn’t force it. I still think he was really open and introspective throughout the album
