Auntie Diaries isn't necessarily a pro trans / gay anthem tbh. He definitely respects how his family members are moving, but doesnt understand it all the way to say im pro this and that flat out. just his personal experiences missteps and all.
i cant speak on him using slurs, but the misgendering is just part of the narrative and i dont think i can fault him for that 🤷 I don't know if i just have the mental privilege of not being so affected by stuff like this, and i'm not saying that its okay to do what he did on a song in real life, but the context does give it a reason.
Kenny fans were saying by the end of the scheme he is proving himself an ally by “correctly” gendering them. He is showing he is an ally.
Ironically, he’s only doing that to detract from his own racist action against a fan on stage.
Wild Thornberries was Nick man
They had that collab movie with Rugrats that f***ing stunk.
yeah I realized lmao .. I def always associated them cuz they annoyed me lol

Thornberries was ass

I don't think it's unreasonable for lgbtq+ ppl to disagree with a straight cis guy using the f slur or deadnaming ppl or w/e and I wouldn't tell them to #SitDownAndListen just cos it's kendrick in particular doing it lol
But I also think u gotta let artists be artists and in this case in particular work through something through their preferred medium, even if that grazes against unpleasantness or clunkiness in the process.
Like even if there are clunky elements to that track, i feel like it's a better entry into the collective hip hop Canon warts and all than some really sterilised and uninteresting, macklemore white privilege 2 s***, ygm? And probably has more to add to the discourse and bringing people around to the good side of things than that to boot?
I feel like ppl online are so used to bad faith actors using slurs or punching down for their own benefit and notoriety that they can't accept somebody approaching those topics in good faith lol
It’s understandable but with our rights being taken and me seeing many other white lgbt people saying stupid s*** I think being mad at a song which is made to explain Kendricks new found understanding of his family is kinda like. lame. I’m not worried about the fact he like said either only thing i’m worried about is if he had permission from said family members to say their deadnames and s*** but otherwise the song is from. his perspective growing up from when he was a kid to now and I think it makes the narrative generally more real with hik retelling and detailing his f*** up and what he learned. Its ok to be critical but to not listen and understand these words is like whack. I also say this as a black trans woman cause to be real the experience with being black and trans is a whole other like demon and i’m glad at least theres a mainstream song that details said experience

Yeah but the movie came with a scratch and sniff card. That was sorta neat.
