Still don’t know how to rank this in Kendrick’s albums son lmao it’s weird cuz it’s so heavy, but then I find myself humming melodies from these songs in my head.

And I’m revisiting tracks from this album a lot.

Like it’s so funny that an album covering cheating, fractured father / son relationships, domestic disputes, a mothers sexual abuse, trying to relate to trans family members and such can still have songs stuck in my head.

This is fr an interesting addition to this mans discography, and like y’all said it’s an interesting character arc.

Hov, Kanye, OutKast, and Kendrick all have some pretty interesting characters in their discographies man.

Hovs and Kendrick’s kinda remind me of each other cuz they both seem to be about being brought down to earth in a way.

The man that made the cocky, god complex and misogynistic Blueprint 1 is a far cry from the dude that made the human and vulnerable 4:44.
Similar to how the young man who embarked on his heroes journey on Section 80 is the same one tearing himself open and bleeding for the world to see on MM & BS.

This is gonna sound weird but Mr Morale reminds me of a superhero story where they deconstruct the concept of a superhero and how difficult it would be to actually try to abide by those rules.

I’m sorry for the long post I’m still collecting my thoughts after sitting with this album some more

    Dope read

Some people are so entrenched in consumerism that they tie their identity to it in a way. So when you criticize something or someone they stan, it’s almost like a personal attack on them.

I’ve said it before but it’s like when you criticize a Marvel movie on Twitter or complain about how Marvel / Disney occupy an absurd amount of theater space mfs will start flame wars in your mentions.

    Yep

Thank you fam, this album is interesting cuz it’s making me really try to contextualize it in the grander scheme of Kendrick’s discography, cuz if I’m being real he been a pretty reclusive and mysterious figure up until this point

Its mad how music you miss out on if streaming numbers is the only metric you go by, in a music forum no less! Do you really love the music or are you just doing free pr for your favorite artists?

I hate the whole outside argument cuz I’ve seen folks play music that KTT swears ain’t being played.

I remember being at a crazy party with models and s*** and the DJ dropped Hell Of A Life by Kanye

least favorite track is definitely Silent Hill rn but I still dig it...just wish Kendrick had done a little more with his verse...Kodak does a pretty good job but I prefer his interlude earlier on the album to his verse on this personally...I do like the production quite a bit

Yeah Kendrick coulda went harder on the track but he floated tbh

Does it actually sound "squashed" to you? I thought they did an impressive job tbh

Yeah, not unlike most Hip-Hop nowadays but in comparison with all the music I usually be listening to, it's indeed squashed. I think it would benefit so much from a bit more open and clear sound

They had no friends at school. Now they tryna overcompensate by listening to the best selling and most popular artist to fit in.

  • May 15, 2022

Not many rappers could pull off Crown and somehow on repeated listens, Kendrick does it so convincingly

Agreed I guess, I do notice that rap nowadays sound kinda better though and not as clumped, albums haven't been sounding as "bright" per say compared to like 2000's

I have a theory that I don’t know how to say without it seeming a bit weird

But Kendrick’s last verse about s***assault victims being misunderstood on Mother makes me think Kodak was sexually abused as a child and thats why Kendrick has him narrating

I compared em on speakers and there wasn't that much of a difference really, certain things would sound a little clearer but it made it a little bit weirder in general. I binned it

Okay yeah that's interesting, the albums sounds really good but surprisingly I saw that mixbyali only did like 1 track on here, he usually does all of kendricks music
