I really love how they mixed We Cry Together
If you listen on good speakers their voices kinda rotate between L & R like they’re walking around a room going back and forth
Crazy touch
Sonics on that song are my favorite, the chorus sounds like them yelling in circles around your head it’s awesome
that clarinet section or whatever it is that comes in on Father Time is straight crack
I thought the N95 video was kinda underwhelming
its just a continuation of keem/damn aesthetics and gives no further insight into the narrative of the album
frankly that's what makes MMBS a little bit frustrating. You're asking listeners to engage with borderline invasive lyrical content AND listen to you oscillate between deeply personal stuff and the whole keem irony s***? why not just make the personal album the TPAB follow-up and then tour off of a kendrick/keem collab album or a pglang comp? A song like rich spirit wouldn't be as deflating to listen to in that context
I'm not even saying that the keem irony s*** is bad - I actually think its a breath of fresh air as far as hip hop camraderie is concerned, and Savior is one of my favorite songs on the album. But there's a time and place for everything and gelling that kind of duality into the album doesn't have the same implications that say Kendrick/Kodak does.
I can see this, hopefully more videos drop from the album but for this song I think the video really fit
Crown is so f***ing beautiful
agree that N95 vid sucks n unnecessary continuation of damn & black panther era vids
I honestly don’t listen as two disc. Doesn’t make sense as yet why this isn’t one album.
eh whatever, he split it in two discs so that's how I'm framing it in discussion. there have been some solid theories in here about the different themes of each disc - mainly that Big Steppers is him dancing around the real conversations he needs to have, and Mr Morale is him having those discussions. but you can consider it 1 disc if you want, I agree there's no hard line drawn between them thematically.
I'm glad he split it regardless of thematic divides because I personally think a 73 minute album is quite long so a double album makes it easier to consume

First disc is him speaking as everybody/us hence the name "the big steppers", meanwhile the second disc is him speaking from his own perspective and experiences hence the name "mr morale". The two sides are actually very different if you look at them through this lens
I don’t think I’ve been more satisfied with life in the past 5 years than now
Classic album with a joint in hand, just vibing

Doesn’t look like a single vid from that era.
