after days of listening over n over i think i understand the stepper motif: kendrick is taking big steps to better himself
this whole album is a therapy session with kenny realizing a lot about himself and figuring out how he can forgive himself and let things go. he's taking the steps that people take in therapy, just like many of us who deal with mental health deterioration and have to figure ourselves out in therapy. we are the worldwide steppers. and he's the big stepper
