On top of the man just completely disappearing for years. There are freshman in college that went their entire high school lives without hearing an album from Kendrick and people act like they are shocked and almost 300k is an L.

Damn I never even thought of it in time context like that…that’s crazy. And there’s absolutely some things on here that the younger generation needs to hear and learn from, and I’m sure lots of black families with young kids aren’t having those convos nowadays…that’s why I’m just obsessed with this album it keeps hitting me in different ways that I wouldn’t even think of before

Yea bro at the end of the day that age group and a little older are the tastemakers. Kendrick needed to stay in the scene more than he did to keep sales up, which he didn’t so I don’t get why people are acting shocked about his drop in sales, unless they are just using that to feel better about their fav artist dropping actual mid.

Either way, this is his highest rated album from a user score standpoint ever. Says something about the quality and supports what we are saying.

you’re right actually that age group is used to fast food s*** so they may not even have the patience to sit through this, hence lower sales and streaming numbers. Your last point is so true though, especially with how I’ve seen stans in here rate it compared to the rest of his discog

He would have still been able to capture a good amount of that age group, but they barely knew he existed their entire high school lives.

In this day and age you have to stay in peoples face or they forget you. Doesn’t change the quality of the music, though.

True. I could definitely see a Die Hard or Silent Hill slowly becoming a hit over time

Yea I can see Die Hard being one of those songs that creeps it’s way up to number one. Needs exposure.

Was Kendrick talking about his infidelity problem all the way back on Buried Alive Interlude and we just never realized it?

ā€œSo blame it on Mr. OVOXO
The reason why I’m breathing all the vanity I know
The reason why my best friend said she love me more than life but I live a double life and need to let her goā€

It's depressing to come into this thread and people are still talking about sales and hits.

It's a rich, meaningful that gives fans a lot to think about. I had a chat with someone about this album at a bar last night and immediately it went to how cool and important Kendrick's vulnerability was, that a black man spoke so freely about therapy. That's going to be the album's legacy when people run it back 20 years from now, not that it sold 286k first week.

  • Goddamn them mfs in Sales thread are bunch of idiots

  • And I’m trippin and fallin
