One of the reasons we have Keem is probably for Kendrick to stay more in touch with the youth, some rappers have to ride every new artist wave and do stupid gimmicks every week to be seen as cool to the youth
The fact he can remain relevant making the music he makes, talking about what he talks about and staying out of the public eye is truly amazing
He probably also made the jojoruski finsta because he realized he needs to be more active after the reception to his album

His album was well received, wtf are you talking about rn. Don’t even want to mention the tour but numbers never lie. The only people who know the reason we have Keem are Kendrick, Dave, Keem, Jay Rock and Q

Kendrick needs Keem to stay relevant? I’ve heard it all now. What a terrible opinion.

The reason Kendrick can remain relevant in 2023 is because from 2012-2019 he gave us nothing but hit song after hit song and classic album after classic album to establish himself as a certified modern day legend

Not saying he needs Keem to stay relevant lol but it's important to have the youth on your side, just like Jay had Ye and Rihanna for example
Young people have nothing but time so best believe it's important
You either gotta dumb down your music or find the perfect balance to have connection to old people and young people and I feel like he's doing that perfectly without dumbing down his music and image and staying true to himself as an artist
You don't think he missed out on an entire generation when he disappeared for 5 years?

  • Aug 31, 2023

Even someone like Wayne who is seen as more youthful and he makes music that appeals more to the younger audience has somewhat lost touch with the youth by taking long breaks and not being in our faces 24/7

Ye was Jay’s peer not just some young nigga, goddamn you got bad opinions.

He don’t need to do s***, he’s f***ing Kendrick Lamar and his name is as established as Drake and J. Cole are for anyone who grew up from 2008 until now on the internet. He will always be talked about and mentioned with those 2, he doesn’t need Keem, Keem needs him

I don’t think he missed out on s*** considering 2 of those 5 years were spent inside where no major musician in his age/status range was releasing much of anything. By the time they started releasing, he was back less than a year later. Drake dropped loosies and a collection of old music, Cole took a 3 year hiatus and dropped in 2021, Dot dropped 2verses in 2021 and an album in 2022. The 5 year s*** is such a disingenuous point when you look at the metrics

Obviously they helped Keem but Keem makes music that appeals to the younger audience more than Kendrick and he's also younger so young people see themselves in Keem more than they do Kendrick, in the long run Kendrick is gonna benefit from that s*** also
So just because he's Kendrick Lamar you think he can make every album sound like TPAB and he's gonna stay as popular if he loses touch with the youth?
Jack Harlow made an "hip hop" album and it's crickets but when he had songs like First Class out I was hearing about that cornball nonstop
I'm not even saying anything crazy lol just common sense, at the end of the day it's all about marketing and branding

Whole lot of assumptions in that first paragraph, you making s*** up so it fits your narrative.

Nothing you said is factual. Kendrick literally has a plethora of trending sounds on tiktok right now consisting of his new music and old music.

Kendrick hasn’t made an album that sounds like TPAB since 2014, 9 years ago. He’s so far removed from that sound yet you’re stuck on that. He’s here, now, making hit music that people are liking (old and young) and attending shows and sharing across social medias

Now you’re shifting the conversation to a rapper who was never as established as Kendrick Lamar. Harlow did what he had to do, he made hit music, gained a solid fan base, and went on a sold out ARENA tour before a big majority of his peers who came in the game before him.

Again, you speak from opinions but everything I’ve presented to you is facts. Have a good day

TPAB was just an example because that's his least commercial appealing album, just like if Jay continued dropping 4:44 type albums only rap fans would care but if he dropped more albums like TB3 he would be breaking the charts and s*** but he obviously doesn't care about that stuff anymore he's a billionaire but Kendrick still has a long way to go, I don't see pgLang signing any old ass rappers because he obviously wants to build a successful label not a griselda type label
Morale had more catchy songs than TPAB and it did pretty good but it didn't do as good as DAMN. because it wasn't as poppy or had as many hits, not hard to comprehend what I'm saying
All you said is that he's an estblished artist and he has fans, yeah we know that lol but there were many established artists who couldn't maintain relevancy because they lost touch with youth and it can happen to anybody depending on the type of music they choose to make and on how they brand themselves, obviously not gonna happen to someone like Kendrick because he knows what he's doing
The whole idea behind pgLang is being about the youth, even their logo but you in here telling me I'm wrong

And what he’s doing is what he’s always done and that is bank on himself. You keep assuming when the artists themselves state what they are doing.

He states many times his creative process which involves NOBODY but himself and maybe Dave/Sounwave. Kendrick is and will remain relevant because he trusts himself. It’s gotten him this far and will get him farther

You got it tho, keep imagining that he needs others to maintain that relevancy while he tells you this is all him and his brain. Kendrick HATES outside influences and never listens to other artists or follow the trends when it’s time to make his music since the jump, straight from his mouth.

y’all really want that keem collab album?

I’d much rather have separate projects from both tbh

Would be the easiest way to have and deliver a ā€œfunā€ Kendrick album

The expectations by fans and Kendrick himself around his solo projects are (or at least were prior to morale) too high and serious

Mirror pretty much put a close to those expectations. He’s gonna do what he wants to do now. Don’t need to Keem to have an energetic, quotable filled Kendrick project. He was doing it on Morale here and there and his features have been that way for a while now

Absolutely not . That range brother /hillbillies stuff is the worst thing Kendrick has ever done

Yeah mirror def sent that message but still I think a project with Keem would be a nice fun energetic vibe

I guess a hot - mild take but I loved The Hillbillies

Kendrick can make that without needing it to be done with Keem. That’s not the direction Keem’s sound is heading any ways, he already gave us 2 tapes of that. He been on some dark wolf s*** since Donda, Hillbillies aside

I mean since its probably the only chance we get a Kendrick collab tape, I'd say yea. Otherwise there are multiple artists I'd rather he do a collab album with.

    Yes they have great collabs

I love when Kendrick just go off on a track and have fun with it

Bro knows how to drop bars and interesting flows all while delivering subject matter that isn’t too heavy

And Keem is nice when he gets more serious too

Idk if it’s actually coming but I’d be hype if it was
