Watch an episode after a Sopranos episode
Husband and I been cooped up in the house for a week sick with covid. We used our 3 month trial of apple tv+ and ended up binging Ted Lasso. Just finished season 2 tonight.
Season 1 was a lot more enjoyable than I expected. I thought it was going to be another bland filler content show, but was pleasantly surprised. I don't really have any negative to say about it. It's just a nice, entertaining bit of television.
Season 2 was decent enough, but definitely less consistent in how different threads developed. I particularly disliked the handling of Nate's villain arc in this season. I don't really mind him becoming a villain, but they way it's built up seemed really unwarranted, especially the last episode with his blow-up at Ted. Really feels like the writers were sprinting to make him turn on Ted in order to have compelling content for season 3\. They also never finished elements of his character that were picked up, like the clear issues with his dad, or his egoism fueled by media and social apps. They also had him apologize for his god complex behavior but then 180'd on it later in the same episode, then never touched back on it in that context. Seemed very wishy-washy.
Overall, i'll probably end up watching season 3. If nothing else, the show actually makes me want to give other apple tv+ series a chance now.
Been rewatching king of the hill every night before i go to sleep

Bobby Goes Nuts
Chasing Bobby
Pretty, Pretty Dresses
I just read the synopsis and if I’m in the mood for that kind of story, I watch it. KotH is so different than other animated sitcoms in that their individual characters are so unique

The delivery from the voice actors really makes it for me
Loving Abbott Elementary so far. What's really doing it for me is just how real it feels while watching. When I was in college me and one of my homies (who is now a teacher in Philly) would do a lot of volunteer and community work around North and West Philly, and parts of South Jersey. We'd work with kids in after school programs and school gardens and the accuracy depicted in predominantly Philadelphia elementary/middle schools is so on point.
Many teachers are doing the best that they can in schools that are poorly funded. You will see a lot of young teachers who genuinely care because they went into it looking to be the change in students' lives. You got teachers who have been so beat down and worn out by the district administration and city they just stopped caring. The show also highlights parents who do genuinely care about their child's education, however they're not able to be as apart of it as they want and need to because they gotta work.
It's a funny show but really does highlight a lot of realities in the educational system in these urban environments. Shoutout to Quinta Brunson for making a show about what she grew up with and is familiar with. Her experiences, as a Philly native, really bleed into many aspects of the show and she created a very accurate glimpse into an aspect of life for children growing up in poorly funded schools that both entertains and acts as an alert to people.
Is there a station eleven thread ? Show seems special off the premiere
