Oh wait I forgot Graffiti is 90s too, you definitely wanna check that one out
They just took the movie off HBOMax
i only mentioned 90s onward but yeah Lovesexy is amazing imo. probably top 10ish prince
Speaking of such a period, whatʼs your opinion on “The Black Album?”

Wait forgive me I forgot lovesexy was 88. Thought it was 90 lol
Musicology, 3121, Art Official Age, are my favorite later prince albums they got some slaps
3121 titular track
3121 titular track
Probably my favorite late-period Prince, Michael B., and Sonny T. groove.

it took me a while to really get into it but i like it a lot. catchy ass drum machine patterns. Bob George is so f***ing bizarre but it actually slaps. Le Grind one of my go-to Prince songs if i am in the mood for some hard hitting funk

such an eerie vibe I love the chorus and whatever effect they used on his voice simply sounds amazing
so welcoming but so unnerving when he says the “dont you wanna come?” part i love it
Love the song Breakfast Can Wait, search for the video it’s not on YouTube I think Dani Leigh is in it she was a Prince protege

It depends: For instance, “The Question of U” had been recorded three years prior—back in 1987.

How late we talking?
If we talking 90s peep:
Come
Diamonds and Pearls
Love Symbol
The Gold Experience got some joints on it but overall it's a pretty skippable project. The skits every other track also gets old real fast.
For 2000s:
The Rainbow Children is very hard in my opinion, way more jazz-funk inspired. I've been told the album was at its best when performed live because it sounds like one long jam session. Never got to hear that but when you listen to the album you definitely get that vibe. I recommend peeping it, it's a fun album.
Musicology and 3121 are very good, and if you loved his albums in the 80s then these albums are probably what you'd feel more comfortable with. They might not be as good as those 80s albums, but they are very familiar and they are still good albums if you wanna know "What would an 80s Prince sound like in the 'future'"
I never listened to Lotusflow3r but that joint is like three albums and one of them is of one of Prince's proteges?
2010s:
I personally really liked ArtOfficialAge and HitnRun Phase 1 and 2, I think they had a lot of a good funk R&B jams on those albums, but they seem to be pretty disliked among Prince faithful because they're seen as "too tame". But if you don't need super eccentric Prince then those are pretty good albums for that
Great rundown, thanks a lot this got me excited to dive into his discog more heavily

I never heard Lotusflow3r either or Musicology, I keep putting it off for some reason.

Well maybe not so Dani Leigh but you get it lmao

So if I remember correctly Dani Leigh originally started out as a dancer/choreographer, from this she did a Prince impersonation that got Prince's attention and I think that's how she was discovered by him. I guess he must've liked her so much that he let her direct the music video for his track Breakfast Can Wait and the rest was history
Emancipation probably the best triple album ever @op
