So this managing director at my company straight dipped and didn’t tell anybody

Don’t know if she has a new job, I assume she does, If so it’s in the same industry, but with a competitor. damn bruh... like she didn’t even tell the people she directly works with that depend on her

What are the long term effects of going out like this? Our Head of North America operations even said that he was “personally and professionally” disappointed

What y’all think about these types of situations

If you leave a job in a bad way, word gets around. Specially if you are in a industry with small circles

    I said it before anyone

  • Sep 7, 2020

it depends. in certain industries that's a one-way ticket to being blacklisted.

in a lot of careers, burning bridges isn't the way to go. employers converse with each other more so than you think. you can pull that kinda s*** off when you're working as a cashier or something, but not when you begin a career. especially as a director, that s*** is high-profile as f***.

put your two weeks notice in and grind it out. you've already been there for whatever amount of time, may as well leave in good terms.

    terrible idea holy s*** lol

Always leave on good terms. You will eventually need references, and solid jobs on your resume

  • i mean sure there’s specific situations where it might be, but even with a s*** job or a bad work environment it’s better to always put the 2 week notice in so you don’t burn the bridge

  • lot of fellow hospital workers just up and quit the first couple months where covid started popping off. it’s understandable, but none of them ever came back and you gotta wonder if that was the plan for each and every one of them

It’s a pretty s***ty thing to do but doesn’t really matter

  • Sep 7, 2020

Only way it couldn't is if you already got a guaranteed job without any references or background check on past employment.

Why is it considered s***ty to do what you want with your life? You think they’ll give you a heads up when they’re about to fire you?

I mean true. But you are leaving your coworkers in a bad spot if you have some projects or work to do. If you give 2 weeks notice they can plan for who continues your work

    they do

esp bc they want u to delegate whatever you were doing to other ppl if not train them urself

nobody just wants a sudden empty space

I agree with both sides of the argument but I’m leaning more towards this tbh. Jobs don’t give 2 f***s about you. This girl I know got fired because she was calling off too much after her mom died of cancer like wtf
