Literally in less than a week// next Wednesday
Before y’all ask who/how/why etc.
I’m not going to school and that bothered me a lot and in high school I thought about it. HOWEVER I kinda fell into college and it was dope. But then I moved and had to do outta state tuition and deal with my crazy ass parents
In dealing with them someone once told me when they joined all they had on their mind was “I just want to leave” and that’s exactly what I wanted/still want to do... is be away from them BUT in corona times it’s hard so without school I thought military would work once again
Technically joined in July I think but I’m actually leaving to go next week
This will be my update thread too if you care

Op are you on a ship?
I’ll be on a ship but I havent left yet
They attached you to an aircraft carrier? Buddy of mine was put on a carrier that was docked for repairs and all he did was sweep the floors, clean the compartments and maintain the steam room pipe system. He said it was the easiest money he ever made but it was extremely boring too lol
got a lot of high school homies that went into military, mostly marines. from what i can tell they love it. good luck op
^ These two are romanticizing the military when in fact a lot of those who are in the military are going through depression

Imma miss you man
after boot camp I think you get your phone back. One of my friends is in the navy and he just posts shenanigans on snapchat on his ship
Depends on whether you’re on deployment or whatever

I’ve had people who were either currently in the navy or just got out tell me it was either a cake walk of a service (they were on base) or a hell hole of depression (carrier on a warfare mission) or other times just being “aigh” (carrier was on a “diplomatic” tour).
I was asking OP if she was being attached to a carrier (doesn’t have to the name carrier and SHOULDNT) because I’ve had literally every person who had been attached to a carrier say that leadership is REALLY hard on the enlisted if you’re new. And that depression and suicide is very real in the military, but it’s a huge problem when you’re attached to a fleet. One of my buddies was assigned to a carrier and every time the ship came back from deployment and hit port someone would commit suicide. Ship life is really hard on the sailors.
On the flipside I’ve had people who just sat around on a Navy base all day and say their service was a walk in the park and would be itching to go back to redeploy or go back on tour.
From what I’ve been told being on the ship is quite literally a sacrifice to this country because if that thing goes on deployment, you work 12-16 hours a day with NO days off assuming it’s out on an active warfare operation. If it’s just moving around to display diplomatic prowess then you won’t get s***ted on as hard but maintaining the ship to be battle ready at all times is still taxing on the crew, but if it’s docked for repairs at a shipyard it’s usually “cakewalk” territory, the work is extremely boring and mundane but you typically don’t get worked to death.

Be careful out there. It's know there's a lot of sexual assaults in the military that go unreported and a lot of military men are woat.
Keep your head high and don't let them thirsty bozos take advantage of you.
Best of luck to you in your new journey.
