These songs aren’t even that good if they can debut #1 #2 #3 that is not a good sign for the future of the charts at all lol
Look at it this way, The debut status represents the hype for clb not a representation for the future of the charts.
If you think this is big wait till clb drops.
Panda wasn't over a soul loop, with no hook, and 6 minutes of straight rapping
But how many rap/trap songs chart similarly to Panda
It's still testament because that sound should've flourished lowkey but melody in rap still equates to higher charting records.
NOT...ENOUGH
I mean Wayne repped All Lives Matter, endorsed Trump, bashed BLM, and made a pun out of Emmitt Till but Im still a fan.
Rappers in general have done plenty of sellout s*** so I dont think Drake needs to prove anything.
It’s a gift and a curse. He can’t take risks musically anymore, he makes music to chart now not for art
And you boys out here like “DaBaby/Lil Baby/Uzi/Carti/Pooh/Travis next up” when Drake ain’t even handing the ball off for at least another 5 years.
It’s still his era and all these mumble rappers need to know their place.
It’s a gift and a curse. He can’t take risks musically anymore, he makes music to chart now not for art
ya he definitely made Lemon Pepper Freestyle to chart
its so disingenuous when some random loser on the internet tries to psychoanalyze Drake and act like they know his intentions
Crazy to think that LTDO could have been a #1 debut if Drake hadn’t dropped.. I have faith it’ll go #1 eventually
show me how let down you are little nigga
Imagine being Bruno Mars and finally releasing your big return single with Anderson Paak after 3 years only to be relegated to number 4 on your debut week because of Drake dropping a surprise 3 song EP of tracks that weren’t good enough to make the cut for CLB.
Issa big fat L.

Stop loving vicariously through Drake fam, this is not your w 😂

Releasing one of the best songs of your career, debuting at #4 (only to be behind the single biggest artist on the planet) + having virtually no one complain about the track is not an L no matter how you look at it

He’s Bruno Mars, his last album swept the Grammys.
There’s no way anyone should have snuck him like this. Even Drake.

Lemom Pepper Freestyle and the other 2 songs were not made to chart. What's Next is a leak that wasn't even supposed to release and Wants and Needs was going to be a Lil Baby song but he switched the plan at the last minute. This ep is just for the fans, DLDT and Care Package weren't for the charts neither is this
Drake takes risks every album that's why he never gets stale

What does that have to do with anything? 24K Magic debuted at #5 and didn’t even reach #1 lol not sure what the Grammys have to do with this, but when Drake drops s*** gets crazy. I don’t know why you guys still act surprised at this

I didn’t mean for it to be a hot take. The songs are good I just think drake took more risks earlier in his career than he does now.

What risks did he take?

Just because it leaked, does it mean it was never supposed to release? What’s Next has that Headlines sound/vibe like all drake lead singles, I feel like that one was probably intended to be released like this even if it was up in the air. I think the leak was probably to test the waters
