    yes.

So how’s Summer hotter than Mariah in 2020 when her Live at iHeart sessions are more popular than anything Summer has released or worked on?

Surely your metric is something innocuous like Instagram chatter? But then how was Drake hotter than Macklemore, Miley and Em in 2013?

    What’s your metric?

they talked about one song nigga drake was more in demand in 2013

Bezerk had a lot of buzz too. He also had a Rihanna song that also went #1 on that album.

It seems to me like y'all think "hotter" means "what me and my friends in middle school were listening to at the time."

That eminem album was not good but the s*** was everywhere. This is still the Drake period when people were making the "Drake the type" jokes, saying the new school was soft, and this was a year before Diddy punched him in the club.

Live iheart sessions? Idk what this is. Summer's hotter than Mariah because she's more talked about in R&B by fans and particularly the youth. Additionally, music publications discuss her more. She also has more hits in recent memory than Mariah while selling more. It's a combination of things. What's the last album Mariah had where she was dominant? Like 2005?

Yes social media does matter to an extent and so does real life chatter. Sales also matter along with impact and hits. Artists are more likely to pick Summer for a pop, r&b, or crossover record than they are Mariah right now which shows she's more in demand. Drake was hotter than Eminem because his music overall was more in demand. Drake was on more songs because artists knew he was the next big thing or already there and people would gravitate to him more than other artists. Drake had more hits in 2013 than every other rapper. Miley isn't a hip-hop artist. Not sure why you bringing her up. Either way, Drake dominated more that year and sold more. Both had some big hits though. Macklemore was never really popular outside a few radio hits.

Billboards’ year end in 2013 had Drake at 34 while Macklemore featured in the top 5 twice and actually had the number 1.

I don’t think his metric is charts though.

And yet he still pushed 600k first week, was on damn near every hot rap record, and still more talked about than nearly everyone. Yes Eminem was still popular in 2013 but them numbers were mainly his core fanbase. People weren't talking about Eminem that much in 2013. In fact, wayne got more talk on social media than Eminem.

Mariah has been trending every week since lockdown because of her contributions in supporting essential workers during COVID-19. Her 2008 album E=MC2 topped the iTunes albums chart last Month, 12 years after its release.
Her 2005 album (glad you mentioned it) had its 15 year anniversary to which she covered most songs for her Stay at Home sessions and was discussed by every popular music publication for Months.

You don’t know this because you don’t follow her—not because she’s not hot.

Summer Walker hasn’t been mentioned by a publication in weeks.

He was everywhere. Maybe you had your head was in the sand. But this wasn't an era where a "core fanbase" pushed you that high. 792,000 people spent $10 on that album in the first week. Eminem was still looked upon as one of the GOATs by the rap community at the time and hadn't tarnished his legacy yet.

Drake was the next big thing and the hottest rising star at the time, but he wasn't universally accepted. It was still split in the Hip-Hop community. He gained more acceptance with NWTS, but he didn't shed the soft label til the Meek beef.

And I don’t think Mariah is necessarily hotter than Summer right now. I think they’re both hot in their respective circles and in the context of a pandemic. Mariah has a boost due to her longevity. Summer loses out on people not streaming as much or going to clubs.

Though if Mariah were to capitalise on her resurgence in relevancy, coupled with her seasonal anthem, she’d eclipse Summer Walker.

This is unrelated to music. We talking about music here. And again, I said Mariah is bigger than summer walker. Summer Walker is hotter. Plus, any big artist who contributes to healthcare right now will be trending because it's something positive and something worth mentioning.

Ok? How long will it be on itunes? Old artists can get a lil buzz for their old s***. This happens all the time. Plus older artists always got old s*** in the bottom of the charts cause older fans still listen to their music.

Yes, a big album from the past that's memorable will probably be celebrated. We celebrated so far gone last year. We celebrated kush and orange juice a few weeks ago. Same thing will happen in a few weeks when MMLP 20 year anniversary comes. Same thing happened with the infamous which touched 25 years this year. Idk where you going with this right now.

I have every mariah album in my folder right now minus the live albums. That session isnt even on tidal or apple music.

Here's my scrobbles of her music over the past 2 years

    last.fm/user/WavySantana/library/music/Mariah+Carey

    So yes, I follow her

Summer just had a song with Khalid which was covered by multiple articles. Anything she does will be covered because she's a big name right now lmao stop it.

Yes you do. It's called being the biggest rapper ever or at the time.

Maybe you need a reality check because you obviously don't go out as much. Drake was more talked about in 2013. He had more buzzing songs and was in demand for features more than Eminem was for a reason. Drake was more talked about on social media. The youth checked for drake more. Drake's actions were followed more.

Nothing you are saying here matters because the numbers outweigh all the criticism he had. Eminem also had criticism in 2013 too but you conveniently leave this out to further your own agenda. Cognitive dissonance is unreal.

Is she giving music and the music is being talked about or is she giving money/necessities to people in need? Stop being dense.

I've explained it multiple times you just refuse to listen and keep associating bigger with hotter. Stop replying to me you don't want a serious discussion.

All you’ve explained is qualitative: there’s no quantitative data to support your argument, unlike there is for bigger.

It’s basically limited to your worldview and assumed microcosm.

Do you think a 40 year old woman thinks Summer Walker is hotter than Mariah Carey? Of course not. Is she wrong? To you yes yet you can’t prove that.

She’s live-streaming home concerts in charity relief, supported by iHeart. It’s literally on YouTube and all proceeds go to healthcare. She then uploads selects clips onto her channel.

It’s been happening for Months and trends on Twitter.

Summer Walker hasn’t released solo music this year.

Oh so your argument is literally horseshit

2 retired women are literally more buzzing than Summer Walker

Your argument has no constraints. It’s literally “who is hotter this very second”

Summer Walker could release an album in a Month and Mariah Carey’s Christmas song will get more streams and we’ll have this same conversation on Christmas Day
