Youre right on some things. This album really does have a subject matter and an aesthetic that is really unique, I just wish that this story it was just better used. What does Kanye care about Lil Durk? Who the f*** is Vory? Chris Brown? I dont see why all these people need to be on this album. MBDTF was features done right because those were people that Kanye grew up with, seen Kanye evolve and it all comes together into that great work of an album. This album just has a bunch of nonsense features of people popular at the time and will make the album age poorly because of it. Kanye has a couple of good verses on this album your right, but I almost forget about the verse altogether when somebody else comes in for feature #4.

Lil Durk is huge in chicago and Drake had him on a song to diss him last year so using him is just a "I’m still certified in chicago" type thing

Vory is just someone talented he wants to work with. He’s always been like that.

Chris Brown is on Pablo and Kanye gave him a f***ing tank not too long ago. Obviously they’re friends

I just think you’re not tapped in and taking out on his feature selection. And if some features make you appreciate the potency of those verses any less idk man cause he def has the standout verse on most of those songs. Or is the one pushing the concepts since it’s all about stuff he is going through. He’s steering this album in a Kanye way and you mad about not having an understanding about his relationship with his features or like the features don’t add anything. I could see if they sucked but everything is just making this project better

Yachty is back in a big way with Hit Bout It and the Detroit tribute. He did a good thing on that song. I agree about features though.

As much as I don't like saying, you're right.

He tried again with TLOP and we got him in his worst mental state and TLOP isn't MBDTF soo

How did he "try" with TLOP, TLOP is its own thing

Most of these songs just feel like reference tracks for other artists albums, dont feel like Kanyes songs at all since hes barely in them. Praise God just feels like its made for the newest Travis Scott album, We Made It, etc. Extremely disappointing he made this album into Cruel Winter, not every song needs 2 features.

If he had just stronger verses and the songs had better structure I could excuse this

    Donda not touching 808s

And 808s and Heartbreak is like the original Donda

Most of the album is Ye getting overshadowed by features that go on too long

Who asked for a Lil Yachty feature in 2021

Ye gotta cut bout half them features and add more verses

Just relistened to 808s and you got Ye and instrumentals basically doing all the work

808’s a f***ing pop album not even remotely close to Donda. Donda got raps my guy

Or a 12-15 song suite that features a new sound and aesthetic like his first 6 albums and not the post Yeezus + trap beats haze he’s been in since 2014 outside of the Church stuff lol

Barely any of Kanye’s album directions are Yeezus + Trap besides So Help Me God which … never happened ?

  • Aug 21, 2021

Anytime Kanye puts a poppin Chicago artist on his music it has significance by default . Musically he is the face of the city. Especially when Kanye uses his platform positive big homie role on occasion

  • Aug 21, 2021

Only problem is it's not out

  • Aug 21, 2021
    Trap a holic

ye doin the mbdtf formula and we never need another one of those again

But even MBDTF had enough Ye and even if he had just one verse he made sure it was really good.

From what we heard of Donda so far, sometimes Ye’s verse is the worst part of the song.

    Trap a holic

    blame pusha and rooga idk

    its diminishing returns each time

id take another jik tbh, at least that was him wraping his head around a new sound. like the songs turned out to be mid but at least it pushes the culture forwards. i dont see donda changing anything now that he added in mediocre drums

We don’t need every Kanye album to “change the game” lol

At this point after 2 mid solos in a row, we just need a great quality Kanye project

post Yeezus = distorted futuristic post trap/hip hop sound (which he’s great at); the random sample cuts in the middle of a song that are ironic references to what woulda been classic Ye chipmunk soul beats (On Sight random sample); the mumbling in final verses

MBDTF formula = assembling an all star cast of whoever’s hot at the time with multiple people on one track at times

you put those two together and you get Pablo and Donda so far + all the other unreleased albums

It’s cool but he used to be the type of artist where every album had a distinct sound and aesthetic to go with it
