Let's be real he wasn't a really good rapper in fact a lot of other NY rappers do what he did just better like Fivio Foreign and a lot of underground artists like Sheff G and 22Gz and Rah Swish etc. He only had a good voice which was obviously forced at times. And also he barked on camera which was a little suspect. Does he deserve to go down as one of the greats with only less than 2 years of rapping?

The hard truth for artists that die before their peak is they all inevitably end up getting propped up a little higher than what they were. It’s natural for us to do that as people because all we know is the potential that was there. RIP to all the young ones that were destined to fulfill their real journey. Abra Cadabra has a very similar voice to Pop Smoke but he’s a better artist IMO way more versatile

not passing judgement on pop smoke as a rapper one way or another cuz i didn't listen to him like that, but it was crazy seeing people switch up from making "oh he's releasing 10 more copies of 'welcome to the party'" jokes to memorializing him right when he died. i mean this type of stuff happens all the time but it was so transparent this time around
