who said he’s going down as one of the greats?
compared to all the rappers that blew up after 2016/2017 definetely
who said he’s going down as one of the greats?
ppl be making up arguments in their head
OP Lauryn Hill has only one album and is a rap legend (I‘m not comparing them but how many years you‘ve rapped doesn‘t define how many impact you have)
Pop Smoke had huge potential especially since he was starting to show a lot of versatility as an artist which all greats must have.
It’s sad to see him go out so young. Can’t forget X and Juice too all three of these young me had immense talent and huge potentials.
He was iight. I don’t think he would’ve been a “superstar” like some people on this forum. Extreme NY media bias when it comes to anyone from NY with a decent size following
I'm ngl the other NY drill rappers are big mid compared to Pop that's why the movement died with him
yeah literally nobody can fill that role he had. he was different
He ran the summer in NY in 2019.
He was going to run SUMMERS for years to come.
Listen to Meet The Woo V1 and V2 and just feel the energy that came through the speakers. These posthumous albums are a whole other story completely.

He was gonna be a legend man. Bro had an elite voice, quotables, melodies, could make any type of song, was even gonna venture into making Spanish songs. And he was started to do movies.
UK Drill artists r even better Unknown T Headie but Pop tha goat. other Ny drill r bad tho Drake floats on drill beats the best of any non uk rapper
I see why David bullies you now
Nah, he was incredible, even his biggest throwaways slapping on faith. I can't even imagine what this dude could be in 5-6 years with that voice and i'm mad af at least once a day that those stupid lowlife f***ers killed him
I think he had a lot of potential. He was something new and different (at least to the mainstream) in a landscape where rappers can feel like copies of each other. Most of all he was versatile. To sound as confident and fully developed as he did at age 20 with so much ahead of him, you don't see that often. In the end it's a shame he was taken from us so quickly.

yeah but that's ignoring the years of work she did with the fugees, her legacy isn't defined by just one album

wait until op finds out about Biggie
He had one of the best voices I've ever heard in rap honestly. One of the biggest "what if's" ever
i’m with this take
his voice was perfect for rap and could do his thing on a hook too

he may have, he was about 2 go crazy in the acting world too
nah I really do think he would of been a superstar because of his versatility alone. Like we already f***ed with his drill songs heavy (Dior + Welcome to the Party a forever classic), but then mans showed us he could do 2000s rap ballads and singing chunes?
I was a huge fan following Meet the Woo 1+2, but SFTS/AFTM confirmed that he was on his way to supestardom.

Yeah, I‘m sorry I left The Score out because it isn’t a solo album - still very important tho. I just think that the argument that rappers can‘t be called legends because they haven‘t left us many records is stupid. Big L, Big Pun, Biggie and Lauryn are good examples of that.
